Hypocrisy
cristos213 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So let me get this right. Erin goes after this girl tooth and nail until she finds out she the mayor's daughter because it can ruin her chances of becoming a lawyer. Didn't care about that when she was a regular girl. Having this conviction getting jobs when she gets older. Pretty hypocritical; Erin.

2,14 **** Excellent on Family Responsibility

Warning: Spoilers
Responsibility is the key theme in this marvelous episode.

A teenager shoots one of the robbers who robbed them in their home and assaulted their mother. Of course, the robbers had already left so self-defense could not be claimed. Danny shows his human side by prompting him what to say in his statement. Danny's sister, the Assistant D.A., goes out of her way to get them the best lawyer imaginable. Of course, the father had first stated that he had done this in order to shield his son.

The episode points out a new thought among crooks. Rob the illegal immigrants. They will not go to the police.

Also, in the episode, it turns out that the mayor's illegitimate daughter is arrested for demonstrating against tuition hikes at her college. Naturally, the demonstration got out of hand and police were hurt. The mayor stepped up to the plate somewhat. His daughter was unaware that he is her father and the scene where she is doing community service is poignant.

On the other hand, Danny's niece feels rejection when her Defense Attorney father continues to have little time for her. It is at the traditional family dinner that this matter and others are hashed out. These dinners serve to bind family together.

What a wonderful show. It should have had a slew of Emmy nominations. Hopefully, next year this program will be honored.

Started watching this series recently; most episodes great, this one is horrible.

Warning: Spoilers
This has to be one of the worst scripts I've ever seen.

The Tale of Two cases...

First, a hard working immigrant father robbed, in his home, of entire week's wages, in front of wife & son, wife gets beaten & they're forced to watch. One of the robbers gets shot outside the home and killed by a family member, which turns out to be the son that shot the robber, which the dad was trying to protect by taking the fall for it.

Second, students arrested for protesting after assaulting police. Normally charged as felonies, but one is secret daughter of the mayor.

The daughter-lawyer (Erin) begs for leniency on second which is turned into misdemeanors (/w "boohoo, mayor's daughter will have hard time getting her high paying lawyer dream job with a felony"), while she has little mercy/care for the first which end up needing a lawyer to fight to stay out of prison in court, with Erin constantly arguing with Danny that it was wrong to shoot the robber!

(Even more mind-boggling when Erin makes it sound like defense attorneys are bad, but then acts like an unofficial defense attorney of the home robber!!)

Even if they wanted to play out some narrative, this has done lasting damage on the character of Erin. And what's the moral of this story? If you're going to assault law-enforcement be sure to have a secret mayor's daughter in your group, otherwise everyone else catches a felony!?!? >:(

Loving show up UNTIL this episode; hoping next episodes get back to their original quality... if they keep following this "level" of script-writing I'll be moving right along onto something else.
