Eurocrash is top tier
thomascranmer-5419920 July 2023
This episode was the one of the most humorous ones of the grand tour era. The trademarked road trip with old or otherwise unpopular cars are always my favourite, this one is no different. At spots the May side can be a bit over the top, but they found a way for it to incorporate their humor with some interesting facts and history about the places that they drive through. All the reviews saying this episode and all other grand tours are crass and have lost their charm are just idolising a fictitious view of the old top gear. Yes, they have changed, but in no way has it been detrimental in the way they produce these shows. There has been a few mediocre episodes in a row prior to this season, but a spark seems to have been lit. Scandi Flick and Eurocrash have been good and hopefully they continue to produce similar content in the future before they decide to stop for good.

If you've bothered to read this short section, thanks. I just thought it was very interesting seeing the negative comments left, because I genuinely enjoyed the episode and had a good laugh during the whole show.

Great but not Perfect
an-7162117 June 2023
It was a necessary episode to remind us what Grand tour is actually about. It's not just three presenters in their 60's. Its a well produced well organised and also well presented show about not just cars but also about life. Since the Mongolia special in season three. I haven't seen a good episode like it, this episode on the other hand made a fabulous come back for the series. It reminded me of old specials like patagonia which i think is the best grand tour / top gear special ever created (except the last 15 minutes of it). This episode was not PERFECT the car choice of James May somehow wasn't funny for me and also it was a little bit of annoying. Beside this minor problem i think it was a great episode for the Grand Tour.

All the ingredients
cmtaylor-1099318 June 2023
A great episode that balanced all the ingredients we love from Top Gear / The Grand Tour.

This was a simple road trip, the only gimmick were the contrasting cars they each chose.

After a laboured start with an over the top, trying to be funny introduction where we are supposed to believe the trio have manicured female hands, the episode truly gets underway once they get into port.

This is a classic road trip through several beautiful Eastern European countries. Thankfully there's no unnecessary backstory (such as treasure hunting, solving food shortages), it's not even a race, this is a pure A-B journey that we fell in love with back in the Top Gear Years.

There's the usual breakdown, interesting challenges, sabotage, tourism and genuine laughs.

I'm fully aware that the show has to be scripted, but much of this episode didn't feel feel forced or overly staged like some of the more recent specials. There was no Richard Hammond supposedly riding down the hill in a small hut, there were no caravans tipping themselves over or cars flying off the cliff with a presenter driving. Everything seemed grounded. Yes, James May uses his small Crossly as an ambulance at the circuit, but this is actually funny and takes up a fraction of the episode.

This episode is humorous and informative in equal measure. I hope the team can maintain this momentum going forward over the 'rumoured' final episodes.

Outstanding, As Per Usual
mrj-7945716 June 2023
These specials may be few and far between, but my goodness are they worth the wait. Euro Crash is without doubt one of the best episodes The Grand Tour / old Top Gear has ever produced. On one of their longest journeys to date, in THE most ridiculous cars you'll ever see (particularly James - despite being a car enthusiast I hadn't ever even heard of the 3 cars used) there is fascinating entertainment throughout. From the manner in which the episode starts, to the intricacies of the journey, I did not stop laughing from start to finish. The wax museum in particular is tear inducing. If this isn't perfection, it's damn near close.

Tonight clarkson drives liberace if he was a car, hammond drives a stoopid banana and may got drunk!

Paraphrasing a bit there !

A new version of the theme tune, a welcome if wierd change so late in the game.

With out big spoilers, there are plenty of jokes, some are blink and you'll miss it, some might take time to sink in, (i had to go back to check some of them).

Their chemistry is on full display, amazing views, epic music selections and just the near perfect amount of scripting (good luck on spotting it though !) The quality of production is the best it's ever been.

This special see's a welcome return to historic factoids and their classic documentary style, somethings are predictable, and later on they go a bit mad but thats a small gripe.

If this was the last one they ever made ( it's not meant to be) it would have been a perfect send off.

Excellent Episode
wmurphy-3746218 June 2023
It seems that The Grand Tour, with only having a few episodes left, is going out on a high note.

Last September we got A Scandi Flick, which easily ended up being one of the top ten Grand Tour episodes. Now, we're presented with yet another excellent episode with Eurocrash. This episode has everything you could want from a Gran Tour episode. It's genuinely funny, highly entertaining, takes us to interesting and unexpected places, and is simply a lot of fun.

Once again Jeremy, Richard and James knock it out of the park.

I really hope these guys continue working together after this show comes to it's unexpected, politically motivated end. And if they don't, I'll be forever greatful for all the incredible times we got to share with them.

Cheers guys.

Absolutely brilliant
razvan-arva16 June 2023
Probably one of the best episodes of The Grand Tour, it felt like one of the episodes from the peak years of Top Gear, sprawling, informative, incredibly hilarious, entertaining and will be endlessly rewatchable. It was so good that you kinda forget that we only get about 1 episode a year, it was filled out with so much stuff. You get the obligatory challenges, the expected pranks and sabotages, but it also has some history lessons here and there. A tourist add for the countries they went through, but most notably it also included 2 small car tests, that came at the perfect time in the episode, as it provided a moment of respair within the chaos. It ended on a high note of tension, that leaves you excited for the next one to come. Hopefully they never stop making these.

Wonderful
GabrielSymes23 June 2023
These three have chiselled out their own space in the light entertainment universe. Some people steer clear, others are huge fans. We are in the latter category. We've watched these three for many years and enjoyed their work immensely. Needless to say, it was a great pleasure to discover Eurocrash had been released.

Eurocrash follows the time trodden format of other specials. Some kind of road trip (although some have included air and water). Contrived difficult situations. Appreciation of the country they are in by staring in wonderment at local scenery. Late night drunken japes with each other's cars. And there is little that is new or different in Eurocrash.

What you get is three friends spending time with one another, and having fun together. Eurocrash is wonderful and one of the best examples from the Clarkson, May and Hammond world.

Thank you Holy Trinity :)
brad_kay17 June 2023
Thank you to Jeremy, Richard and James for continuing to make such an entertaining series.

Full of laughs, sights and information, so nice to have something to watch that is genuinely entertaining.

The cinematography has always been excellent, the cars were genuinely interesting and unique as was the entire idea for this one.

Sad that so many places in the world have gone downhill due to a few bad eggs/ideals/expansionism, but great that the Trinity have had the opportunity to show those places in their glory before they came to their current state.

Thank you to the whole GT team, looking very forward to the next one 😀

No story or a proper mission!!
contactfahad18 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the three like always but this episode was disappointing.

It had no story or a proper mission. Miss the days when they had a proper theme. The roads were easy. I'm sorry but I would love to see them struggle a bit more.

Overall it was not what I was expecting.

This summer's best entertainment.
djetm17 June 2023
Just watched it while laughing my heart out.

This is as good as it gets, when it comes to entertainment. The British humour is hilarious, and they even got Nigel Mansell on board for a bit of good 'ol English English.

This isn't just a show for people who loves cars.

I would say this is a show for people who likes comedy, spectacular scenery, and "a bit" of shenanigans.

You wouldn't believe what happens in this episode.

And I learnt a lot of things that I really had no clue was true.

Loved every every minute of this one, and I just have to rewatch the other ones now - because I am so sad the episode is over.

Have fun viewers.

Who said 3's a crowd?!
pinmonkey22 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Now I have to say, I am a big fan of this his trio and whenever they are on a road trip, it's best with they are all together. Now they say 3's a crowd and I sort of agree that 3 can be an awkward number but when 3 works, it can be the best combination!

It's like a balancing act of all the different characteristics and when they all come together it creates something special. Clarkson, Hammond and May have this special collaboration and just makes it very enjoyable to watch.

Now to be direct, this episode failed to deliver this special collaboration as May car was so unreliable and useless that he was not able to keep up with Clarkson and May meaning this episode felt disconnected and disjointed. So referring back to my previous point, these guys work best as a 3.

So overall I felt this episode was missing the expected and much loved camaraderie at times. Watching these 3 navigate some very humorous and very uncompromising situations is always best when they are all together.

Little dull
jimheeren19 June 2023
Sorry this special just didn't do it for me. The cars of choice were boring. James May was out of the picture for most of the special because the producers decided to put him in a driving fridge to annoy other road users, so he misses most of the action in the first hour or so. Hammond drives around on some god awful American crap and Clarkson is basically the only one with a fun, somewhat unique car. There is no story to tell, they somehow manage to make Eastern Europe look boring. Just go watch the Mongolia special again or even better go watch Top Gear. Amazon has all of the budget and I don't know how they spent it but they have to do better.

Tonight, Jeremy realises he's fat, Richard wees on the track and James laughs at some wax
weakkeyleaks18 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Grand Tour is back and Central and Eastern Europe is where they re at.

It starts off with them driving interesting cars that leads to interesting breakdowns (of one of them) and interesting modifications (the other two) stopping at interesting places.

A nice road trip across an interesting part of Europe that most dont think off that is sprinkled with humor, interesting challenges, track tests of some exotic cars, a brief look back at the history of car making in those regions, a race, and a twist in the end.

Its well made and worth the long wait and although it does not have actual accidents and more outrageous happenings like in the Scandi Flick, it is nevertheless a fun one to watch.

Eurocrash is mostly about the enjoyment of the road trip. You get to see nice scenery, places that you may not have known are there, cars you may not have known existed and the usual interaction between those three. They are more grown up now so the humor is different and less of it compared to old top gear.

I m more about the overall enjoyment of the episode. I still find quite a few parts funny but i m greatly entertained by the car history narration interspersed in the show and the ending is a nice touch to top it off.

Its not their best work and i prefer Scandi Flick but its still stellar. I was expecting a good episode and i m more than happy about it. It shows what Clarkson Hammond and May and the crew can do when you give them time, money and resources to do something.

A great episode overall.

Back on form.
daveditch-5329119 June 2023
Very hard to describe without spoilers but here goes....

I watched the first few minutes and thought hmmm I wonder. But it started to pick up. Shortly after then the cars appeared and it all seemed a bit silly and contrived again but then, the only way was up.

The cars, or at least the differences between them made for good viewing. The countryside and scenery they went through was stunning. The "challenges" were entertaining, relevant and on most occasions informative.

I have given them harsh reviews for a couple of episodes that IMHO were dire but that's all water under the bridge and this one was excellent.

Back to their best
samck-0469117 June 2023
Series 5 of specials have that magic something about them, they blend all of the things that make watching these 3 great and both A Scandi Flick and Euro Crash are two sublime episode, full of laughs and fun.

I've grown up watching these three, learning about cars and building a huge interest in all things vehicles along the way, but the best thing is watching them explore the world has spurred on my own adventures, with my and my missus recreating their trips and seeing parts of the world we never thought we would.

Just wish we didn't have to wait 9 months per episode. More grand tour please.

"Roadtrip Not Done Before"
t-d-t-m8219 June 2023
The USP of this episode isn't like a normal Top Gear extended 'movie' show. It's not a special mission. It's just a driving tour from Gdansk in Poland to Bled in Northern Slovenia.

According to Google maps if you take the autobahn it's precisely 1,289 kilometres. Not 1,400 miles. It's also a straight-forward drive. The claim is that "No one has done it before" yet I highly doubt this.

Also I do not understand why it's a random town in Slovenia and not finishing in somewhere like Athens. The very top to the very bottom. It's hard to comprehend how a day's solid driving can be broken-up as much as it is on the show.

Except it is because James May choose the most unsuitable car for a journey of this length. They also visited lots of random places including a Stalag camp (yes they did have theater in camps I have a photo of another one) and a wax museum.

I absolutely love the show and am a huge fan. There was lots of great chemistry and genuine laughter expressed from myself during screening.

However I feel that it was just a bit pointless. There was no special mission for them to achieve and it felt aimless. I'm still confused by the ending. It didn't mean anything.

The cars were quite frankly rubbish choices. Of course Hammond choose something American and Jeremy something outrageous and James May's special ability to pick something ludicrous was very much to form.

It just felt long-wounded and not as fun as previous shows. I really loved the show but to immediately say you can't do things when you can was rather silly. I know how hard it is to do these shows but there needs to be better strategy.

We love the challenges and it needs to be a mission challenge for the whole show. That's what makes Top Gear unique and fun. It's the USP. Having mini-challenges along the main challenge is part-of-the-entertainment.

Yet just an aimless roadtrip is lacking that USP and becomes a bit tiresome and formulated. James' pranks are well-worth watching and it's a great show but they need to be aware of their own USP and their own purpose or it's just a lad's cruise without conviction.

A huge fan still. 8/10.

Thoroughly enjoyable
mgicnick17 February 2024
The classic trio is back at it with yet another episode of mayhem and hilariousness travelling though central continental Europe this time. Spectacular locations, good fun and the good old chemistry we have come to enjoy throughout the years since they were presenting Top Gear on BBC and even though it is a clearly scripted program they somehow manage to keep the appeal and the interest intact.

The fans of classic James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond won't be disappointed as they still retain all the magic, it a well presented, well directed episode, a breath of fresh air and good old masculine banter in the arid landscape of today. Good TV 👍

Tired Jokes, Pointless Journey
LoveStallion24 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm as much of a long time fan of the boys as any, but this special had no point whatsoever. There was no overarching goal or challenge. Just, "Let's drive from Gdansk to Bled and act only moderately engaged the entire time."

With Amazon only committing to filming projects under contract due to Clarkson's antics, I can only imagine the creative well will continue to run dry. Eurocrash does not give me hope for any sort of creativity in figure instalments.

The guys cracking up at the wax museum was probably the funniest, most genuine part of the special. You could tell the laughs were real and spontaneous, and the guys' wit and humor came through naturally.

Funny too how they entered Slovenia from Croatia and were immediately in the Julian Alps, which border Austria and Italy.

Not themed. Driving without a purpose.
zkorijen17 June 2023
Searching for the source of the Nile, fine. Rescuing themselves in Mongolia, fine. Taking pictures of animals in Columbia, fine. Building the bridge over the river Kwai, fine. Looking for pirate treasure, fine. Delivering food in Mozambique, fine. All those episodes were themed. They had purpose. They had goal.

This episode does not have that. They are just driving, that's it. Without goal or purpose. And in the middle of the episode they insert car reviews. Boring. In the last episode of Season 3, Jeremy announced specials, road trips. Not this.

At Amazon's website of the episode, photo behind the informations of the episode is guys in a field pushing Jeremy's car. Forget it, you're not getting that in the episode. And the picture of the episode below Scandi Flick, boys are standing in some sort of field arguing, you are also not getting that in the episode.

Also, when intro starts, there is a shot of Clarkson and Hammond sitting on sofas on a race track. You're also not going to see that in the episode.

Not to mention timing. The other day I watched Patagonia special. Fantastic episode, 2 hours in 2 parts. And I find out they filmed that in September 2014 and it was released in December 2014. After just 3 months. What has changed? Why is the gap between filming and release date 1 year now?

Scripted unfunny jokes
Wessuss19 June 2023
Lazy and uninspired. They are not even trying. Grand Tour needs better writers because this was atrocious to watch. Can't we get the writers from Clarkson's Farm to help with the Grand Tour? The clever jokes and humor of the good old Top Gear keep getting replaced with cartoon jokes that only pre teens would like. Everything I watched was scripted and very obviously so. They even faked another Hammond crash. They just removed parts from the car and placed them, unbolted, onto the car so it looked like a wreck. And they want us to believe that James could replace the entire upholstery of Jeremy's car in just one evening. Come on, just stop. And you can tell it's bad because very clearly they don't look they are enjoying the trip either. How hard can it be, and how can you be so off the mark. I'm going to watch the Botswana special for the 2838th time again now, because watching this made me sad!

Worse and worse
endrekemenes31 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's getting worse and worse with each episode.

Way too much acting and Hollywood-style unrealistic scenes.

Also, I even observed that don't even do their research anymore: in Slovakia when James did the joke on Hammonds car, the voice was in Hungarian, not in Slovakian.

The jokes have become boring. The trips don't make any sense. The plot is already so directed, that I'm getting angry each time I see something stupid, which I know it has only been directed, hoping to have it considered as a funny joke. No, it's not funny anymore. You pushed the limits way too far and went beyond them a while ago.

Please come back to reality and better humor.

They should hang it up.
adelajudebooking25 June 2023
This was disappointing on so many levels. This storyline of making James May the sad sack of the trio is old and played out. Faking breakdowns and hijinks should be above this trio, and I think they have run out the three stooges schtick. Too contrived and fake.

Clearly, this was - "hey let's be tourists and go to a bunch of places we can write off as business expenses" - With all of the previous challenges they have done - there was driving skills involved and they put themselves into situations that the viewer could imangine themselves in, not in this one. Can they continue on with this kind of production, playing caricatures of themselves? I hope they have some sense of dignity, and not.

A deeper fall
samtoulouse17 June 2023
This show is switching from English Humour (Monty Python, IT Crowd...) to crass. Will Ferell humor.

I was already doubting May's accident in the previous episode but this time they are ignoring what used to make their team good. Everything is predictable and matches Hollywood standards.

Not a single car reviewed (let's remember the concept was to pretend to review cars) and a bunch of predictable and annoying events that match the new US "funny" sub-culture.

If you are happy with crass US humour, especially the covers of 1970's EU classics, then it might be your thing.

To me, it is just Jackass with a British accent.

More of the same
condominiovalmorvv5 July 2023
Formula is exhausted. And why does Jeremy have to be the "hero and most successful" all the time? We all know that this goes through a big rehearsal, he doesn't have to be the quickest, always being the first one to finish and getting the most points on every competition. Independently of his sense of humor and presence, Richard is not more than an extra always supporting the main character. And having James always finishing last and being the most miserable one is not funny anymore. I was a big fan but now this is as surprising and exciting as viewing videos on the YouTube. Hope they have the inspiration to become a reference again.
