Crossroads of Desire

Warning: Spoilers
It's not until you're three quarters into this film that you realise what you're watching. Suddenly, everything makes sense. The theatricality and the formality of it all serve the purpose of a cautionary tale about male jealousy. When you reach the end, you're at a proper crossroads and the new layer of marital deception is properly added. It's incredible how a film can seep through you so gradually until you realise what it's all really about: our struggle to reconcile the subjective mind with the (often objectified) body. It's made with a lot of precision by Joao Paulo Simoes and has in its lead actors (Arin Alldridge and Annette Ross)incredibly subtle players, who keep the emotional side compelling and help the slow narrative unfold in a very engaging way.
