Today’s newest viral scandal that has everyone outraged is United Airlines’ forceful removal of a passenger from a flight. Although unfortunate, we have a good feeling everyone will eventually forget the terrible incident because look at the track record. Joseph Kony Anyone still remember Kony? In 2012, a documentary titled “Kony 2012” was released by Invisible Children, an organization created to bring awareness to the Lord’s Resistance Army and their activities in Central Africa. The film was part of a campaign to have Kony, the leader of the Lra, arrested by 2012 and the video quickly spread like wildfire. We bet you or someone you.

Between her shows, her network, her magazine, her movies and everything else that falls under her empire, Oprah Winfrey has long been one of the busiest people in entertainment. It all got to her recently, she told “Access Hollywood,” when she interviewed “Kony 2012″ creator Jason Russell the day after filming emotional funeral scenes for “The Butler.” Russell suffered a breakdown of his own, famously running naked through the San Diego streets while ranting about the devil following the tremendous viral success of his “Kony 2012″ video. Oprah Winfrey's work ethic is unparalleled, which has been both a blessing and a curse for the TV titan. Speaking to Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson on Tuesday, Sept. 17, the 59-year-old star revealed that she nearly suffered a nervous breakdown in 2012. While filming Lee Daniels' The Butler last year, Winfrey was in the midst of trying to revitalize her "struggling" TV channel, Own. It wasn't until she interviewed Kony 2012 director Jason Russell for an episode of Oprah's Next Chapter that she realized she was burning the candle at both ends. (Russell suffered a very public meltdown in March 2012 when he stripped naked and stopped traffic in San Diego, Calif. Police intervened, and he was taken...

Oprah Winfrey isn't immune to her own network having problems. While she was shooting her recent film "The Butler," she was also juggling conducting celebrity interviews for "Oprah's Next Chapter" and handling her "struggling network." When she finally interview Kony 2012's Jason Russell and talked about his public breakdown, she realized she was going through one of her own.
"In the beginning, it was just sort of speeding and a kind of numbness and going from one thing to the next thing to the next thing. I will tell you when I realized that I thought, 'All right, if I don't calm down I'm gonna be in serious trouble,'" Oprah tells Access Hollywood. "I was in the middle of doing voiceovers, you know? And I remember closing my eyes in between each page because looking at the page and the words at the same time was too much stimulation for my brain.

Last March, Jason Russell's Kony 2012 video inspired and moved people by the millions to raise awareness and funds to find and stop warlord Joseph Kony. Shortly after Russell became a household name, he suffered a public meltdown and was seen naked, ranting, and running through the streets of San Diego. The incident all but killed the momentum of Invisible Children's cause.
This weekend, Russell opened up, speaking candidly about the unfortunate circumstances in order to clear the way for Invisible Children's revamped effort and new 30-minute film. "Kony 2012" director Jason Russell is set to finally break his silence regarding his very public breakdown in San Diego, Calif., during an upcoming interview with Oprah.
The co-founder of Invisible Children, the group behind the extremely viral "Kony 2012" video, was detained by police and eventually checked into a psychiatric hospital in March after he was found naked, disrupting traffic and screaming incoherently on a busy street corner.
The 33-year-old and his wife, Danica, will talk about the incident, which was initially chalked up to dehydration and a brief, reactive psychosis, on an episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter," set to air Oct. 7th.
Oprah's Own network teased a bit of the interview during Sunday's sit down between the talk show superstar and Stephen Colbert, and an excerpt of the transcript was also released to TMZ.
Oprah: "What do you remember, Jason?"
Jason: "I remember me flipping off cars.

You can tell a lot about the film just from the opening titles; too many means the film is a small independent piece, none means the film was produced by the distributor and is therefore a brainless blockbuster, Weinstein means the film will be trying to get an Oscar etc.
Sometimes, as the lights go down and people in the cinema begin to hush for the next couple of hours, a name in the titles will catch your eye. Not an actor’s or director’s name, but the name of one of the film’s backers, its presence shocking because you can’t believe they’re actually a production company.

If the Kony 2012 campaign had its way, the world would have woken up to cities covered in posters on Saturday. In this guest post, Adam Ferrier discusses why it didn’t happen.
Kony 2012 has made the world a sadder, more cynical place. Kony 2012 has harnessed the powers of social media and advertising, blended them with the worst of evangelical christianity, and duped the world.

One of my favorite TV shows that has consistently been one of my favorites is South Park, but I don't get the opportunity to mention it much on here. I caught last night's episode and, as expected, it was a hilarious yet clever episode tackling two current issues: Harvey Weinstein's Bully doc and fight with the MPAA, and the Kony 2012 video Jason Russell incident in San Diego. There was a key moment midway through about movies (involving a studio exec bullying people) and it ends on a very poignant note regarding distribution. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to share this. This is specifically the scene I'm referring to, but you can see their entire "Bully" episode online free here. This is why I love this show. Jason Russell, the man behind the high-profile Kony 2012 campaign, was suffering from a psychotic episode when he was arrested over a bizarre naked rant in a street last week (ends16Mar12).
Russell was seized by cops in San Diego, California last Thursday for public drunkenness and masturbation following reports he was seen committing an obscene act and vandalising cars.
He was placed on a psychiatric hold so medics could assess his mental state, and now a spokesman for the family has revealed Russell was diagnosed with a brief reactive psychosis - a temporary psychotic episode triggered by stress.
He is likely to remain in hospital for several weeks.
The statement, obtained by TMZ.com, reads, "We would, again, like to make it clear that Jason's incident was in no way the result of drugs or alcohol in his body. The preliminary diagnosis he received is called brief reactive psychosis, an acute state brought on by extreme exhaustion, stress and dehydration...
"Though new to us, the doctors say this is a common experience given the great mental, emotional and physical shock his body has gone through in these last two weeks. Even for us, it's hard to understand the sudden transition from relative anonymity to worldwide attention - both raves and ridicules, in a matter of days...
"He is, and will remain, under hospital care for a number of weeks; and after that, the recovery process could take months before he is fully able to step back into his role with Invisible Children. During that time, we will focus not on a speedy recovery, but a thorough one."
Russell's film about Joseph Kony became an online hit when it was released earlier this month to bolster Invisible Children's upcoming 20 April publicity drive to snare the warlord, but became mired in controversy amid allegations of financial mismanagement at the charity and reports Kony has not been active in Uganda for years.

'Kony 2012' creator Jason Russell has been diagnosed with "brief reactive psychosis" in the wake of his arrest for public masturbation, according to his family. Russell was picked up by police in San Diego last week for vandalising cars, touching himself in public and being under the influence of alcohol. The advocate's wife Danica Russell was quick todeny that Jason has a drug problem and attempted to explain his behavior. "While that attention was great for raising awareness about Joseph Kony, it also brought a lot of attention to Jason - and, because of how personal the film is, many of the attacks against it were also very personal, and Jason took them very hard," Danica said at the time. The Russell family has now released an update on Jason's condition in order to also deny that he was abusing alcohol at the time of his (more)...

Charlie Sheen's former 'goddess' girlfriend Bree Olson has posted a bizarre new video online featuring footage of her writhing around on a California beach as images of war brutality in Uganda are flashed onto the screen.
The ex-porn star shot the promo after watching director Jason Russell's Kony 2012 viral video, which chronicles the war crimes of Lord's Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony in a bid to make the warlord so infamous that he will no longer be able to avoid capture as international forces seek him out.
Moved by what she saw, Olson is appealing to her fans to support the Kony 2012 movement and the charity behind it - Invisible Children, and she has put her own sexuality on film to help get her point across.
The five minute viral video features Olson wearing a barely-there red bikini as she rolls around a beach striking sultry poses. In other scenes, she walks the streets of Los Angeles in a pair of mini-shorts and a blue bikini top, poses by a busy freeway, and writes 'Kony 2012' on her mud-covered body as she writhes around on a shoreline.
The 25 year old says, "Right now you're watching a video of me outdoors in California, interspersed with pictures of the effect Joseph Kony has had on the people of Uganda. I put the two together because I know a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down."
The Invisible Children organisation needs all the support it can muster right now following the arrest of filmmaker Russell, who is also a co-founder of the charity, last week.
The director was arrested in San Diego, California following reports he was drunk in public and allegedly masturbating and vandalising cars.
Russell has been transferred to a mental hospital for his own safety.
His wife Danica has blamed her husband's apparent meltdown on the unexpected popularity of his Kony 2012 film, and the criticism he has been subjected to as a result of the video, which has been viewed by almost 100 million people around the world.

The wife of embattled filmmaker Jason Russell has urged officials at the charity he co-founded to let her worry about her husband's mental state and continue with their campaign to bring Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony to justice.
Russell, the man behind the hard-hitting Kony 2012 viral video, was arrested for alleged public drunkenness and masturbation in San Diego, California last week.
The father-of-two Russell, who features in the film alongside his young son, was taken in to custody following reports of him allegedly masturbating in public and vandalising cars.
On Friday, TMZ.com reported Russell had been hospitalised on a 5150 psychiatric hold so authorities could assess his mental state.
Ben Keesey, the CEO of Invisible Children - the charity Russell co-founded, released a statement which read: "Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized... suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition... He is now receiving medical care and is focused on getting better. The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday."
And, on Saturday, Russell's wife Danica released a statement to the charity's supporters, adding: "Thank you to everyone concerned with Jason and his health. Jason has dedicated his adult life to this cause, leading up to Kony 2012. We thought a few thousand people would see the film, but in less than a week, millions of people around the world saw it. While that attention was great for raising awareness about Joseph Kony, it also brought a lot of attention to Jason - and, because of how personal the film is, many of the attacks against it were also very personal, and Jason took them very hard.
"He did some irrational things brought on by extreme exhaustion. On our end, the focus remains only on his health, and protecting our family. We’ll take care of Jason, you take care of the work."...
