Pretty standard, but not getting the Brazilians right

It's well done but like so many SVU episodes: powerful perp, lots of handlers, uncooperative witnesses, the 1PP brass being cowards. Worst for me were all the Spanish-speaking actors butchering Portuguese. Learn to say "feijoada" correctly, Ocampo!

Otherwise, I'm starting to like Muncy in her interplay with Velasco vis à vis football versus fútbol (futebol in Portuguese), although I doubt the NYPD would allow a colorblind officer to make detective. Saint Olivia still has more balls than Chief McGrath, who continues to seem like a kiss-up, kick-down boss. Idea: if they could bring back Barek from Criminal Intent as a lieutenant, bring back Eames as the new SVU chief. She made lieutenant before Olivia, so making her an inspector or one-star chief isn't a stretch. An Erbe-Hargitay conflict and alliance would be entertaining.

Dead Ball

Warning: Spoilers
This episode took two main sports stories: Cristiano Ronaldo and Deshaun Watson and kind of morphed them into a bit of a super predator here. As a big sports fan I like that they're reading the news, but acting like a top player would consider a move to the MLS, or a fake MLS for the show, is just too ridiculous.

But ignoring some stuff like that, the episode was still pretty solid. Of course it had to end with a gun being pulled on the bad guy, something that seems to happen way too much at the end of SVU episodes these days.

Oh well, certainly better than most of the episodes we have gotten this season.

Based on the Deshaun Watson Case

Warning: Spoilers
As it proves that money, power, and prestige may buy you a lot of toys and all of that but it does not give you an excuse to be above the law.

As one soccer player that is world famous but is known for his womanizing ways and smug and arrogant attitude. Who may have raped many young women but his entourage paid them off to keep quiet or it would ruin their careers.

With one reporter that the arrogant soccer player once knew claimed that he raped her when she was very young and wanted to expose him for the liar that he was.

Plus his entourage including his manager is knowing more than he is letting on there. As his own wife and daughter get affected as well.

It is based on the NFL Browns QB on suspension as this is being typed about to be off it, DeShaun Watson and his twenty two or more female massage therapists that he harassed and more story on it.

A Satisfying Episode To Watch
osuka-1913914 November 2022
One of my favorite episodes so far in the season of SVU. Love some of the attention to detail on the Latino side. The guy playing the soccer player knew how to pull strings with his acting. Love the writing, love how they express their experiences in this episode. I hope to see them do more like these, especially when it comes sport stuff. All of the acting was phenomenal, love some of the interactions they had regarding the sport. Love seeing the process of having to deal with a difficult high profile case being dealt with and the high stakes the investigators had to go thru.

Highly recommend this episode.

Absolutely RIDICULOUS episode

Warning: Spoilers
This show.sometimes has very good writing. This episode did not. Can you imagine the police, finding out a man's best friend raped his daughter then ASKING him to confront the rapist while wearing wire?! Why not just give the guy a gun too? TERRIBLE concept, and it would NEVER be done by police in real-life. There is a difference between decent crime writing and a craven attempt to sensationalize a plot with an implausible scene like that. I realize that the hunt for ratings is a battle in today's TV environment, but don't.foist this kind of absurdity on people, make the writers WORK harder to produce better product.

Dates not right!

Warning: Spoilers
The white board shows a cash withdrawal on November 9, but it's only November 8 according to the text between scenes. Sloppy work.

This is an inconsistency, and I expect better from a Dick Wolf show.

This was a good SVU episode otherwise. There was plenty of suspense and intrigue throughout.

If I received $100,000 per quarter, I think my husband would notice my change in lifestyle, lol!

Speaking of inconsistency and living outside your means, how does Ice T's character afford Gucci clothes? Is NYC paying its officers enough? I love his style, but the amazing clothes are a little distracting.
