Nice episode off the heels of the best episode of lesser season 4, the Freaky Friday-inspired "Basic Human Anatomy". It has a well-paced and interesting beginning, some laughs and introspective about some character earlier days although I found the ending a bit sappy. The highlight for laughs for me was the short appearance of the origin of "Pop Pop". If you have been following the show, that was a quick and witty unexpected laugh in the middle of a dramatic action scene. Kudos for that little treat to the viewers. Although Community has stretched some wordplay and innuendos too far at times (annoying Changnesia for instance), That "Pop pop" Eureka moment hit the mark with a roar!

not bad, but harmon would've done it better

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, I thought this was a pretty good episode. Despite season 4 being overall "meh", this was wasn't bad in my opinion. It's a great idea, and definitely seems like something Abed would do, although it does feel a little forced. To me, this point sums up how most of season 4 feels; like the new writers were trying so hard to be like Dan Harmon and replicate his writing style that it flopped. but back to the episode.

Overall, I didn't think this was a bad episode. The idea was interesting and I never found myself bored while watching, it was cool to see how connected their lives were, but there were a few small details that weren't quite right. It's like the new writers had read a quick summary of each character but never bothered to make sure what they were writing made sense. The detail I'm talking about is Troy's injury that cost him his scholarship. In this episode, he fakes a knee injury at a party, but in reality, Troy dislocated his shoulders on purpose because he couldn't take the pressure of the final football game. He didn't FAKE any injuries, and even if he did, it wasn't his knee.

This is why I think Dan would have done this episode way better. He know his characters. And I feel like if Dan had written the episode, it would have felt more natural instead of feeling like some random show trying too hard to be like Community, if that makes sense.

So yeah, t'was a good episode for season 4, but still inconsistent in some areas. Little details being wrong just bothers me a lot so if you're able to look past small errors, this episode will be just fine.

(i haven't written a review or anything before so sorry if this is kinda all over the place)

Heroic Quilt of Destiny

Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode of season 4, which unfortunately has been unfairly maligned by some in the Community community who bemoaned (understandably) the departure of Dan Harmon at the end of season 3. I started watching season 4 a few years after the hullabaloo about season 4 being Harmon-less and claigms of "reverse engineering". Season was actually a positive season, and sure it didn't always work out, but you can say the same thing for some episodes in seasons 1 and 3.

Here we bask in the Study Group's destiny to be the Study Group. Pierce appears in a way but Chevy Chase doesn't. I wish I knew the stand-in who played Pierce because there was kind of a resemblance.

By far one of the best episodes of the whole series, I get season 4 wasn't all that but this episode is a perfect reminder why this show is so great and well built

One of the best episodes so far.

I've heard a lot of complaints about the fourth season, mainly because nobody expected the show to maintain the same level of quality since Dan Harmon left the party. Although this season had a few lesser episodes, Heroic Origins, to me, was one of the best episodes so far, second only to Advanced Dungeons and Dragons in season two. Everything wrapped up together so beautifully, it blew me away. I was sad to hear Dan Harmon's reaction to this season, it was like he gave his child up for adoption and got mad because they did a fantastic job picking up where he left off. This episode was wonderful, it explains how the group was bound to meet eventually, how their lives were connected and I watched every minute of it with absolute joy. I'd very much recommend watching it.

Why should the characters be destined to end up together? I hate when shows does this.

This episode uses cheap tricks to make the audience think that there is a hidden meaning somewhere, when actually its just random nonsensical stories that serve no point.
