IceT shows us why we love Fin
patrickphair18 February 2023
This episode is a real tribute to the character of Fin and a pleasure to see IceT take charge of this episode. It was nice to have less Olivia. I love her but I didn't miss her trademark dramatic whisper!!

The story was well written from the beginning. Seeing Liv make sure Fin got home OK was great. The love and respect between them has developed over the years.

Watching Fin work his way through the details of the old case was well done. They did a nice job of bringing in Fin's growth as a cop as well as a Dad. The relationship he has with Ken has been a real highlight for me as a loyal fan. Now with his grandson, it's even better.

It's been a while since I have enjoyed an episode as much as this one.

Only complaint was the silly pickle jar thing!

Very touching episode
ravmeltt23 February 2023
I had to write when I read the negative review of one of the reviewers who said this episode was horrible and garbage. I find it was very interesting, emotional and realistic.

I liked how Fin handled the case. The guy Dutch had me worried a bit. He kept asking questions and I was afraid that he was going to go off the deep end and do something drastic and stupid. I'm so glad he didn't.

Someone said that the statute of limitations were passed and that the CO and the rapist would not do time; I'm not so sure but I like a satisfactory ending.

I think Fin couldn't open the Dil jar because he had been drinking earlier and I'm sure that weakened him. They weren't trying to say he was old or had arthritis. I don't know where some people come up with these things.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the episode. I think the next one is the finale for the season (tonight) and looking forward to it.

Best SVU Episode in a Long Time . . . But Take That with a Grain of Salt
bkkaz17 February 2023
The writing here is closer to SVU in its prime -- and that's a big plus over the dreck of the past, oh, 5-10 years or so.

But the biggest reason the episode succeeds is because there is so little Benson and Carisi. By not having their usual antics dominate the episode -- and all the usual "Oh, you're so smart, beautiful, etc." tripe (Bleah!) about Benson -- the episode focuses on the meat and potatoes and not the cheese. Trimming that nonsense, along with Carisi's usual whining and sycophancy, makes things eminently more palatable.

I don't know if this is Ice T's last episode, but if so, he goes out with a strong performance. Good for him. Throughout all of SVU's creaky shifts toward melodrama and soap opera, he's maintained a steadiness that is simply admirable.

That doesn't mean it doesn't still suffer from some of the cheesiness. Some of the acting is still over-the-top, and there's the need for EXTREMELY MELODRAMATIC MUSIC. The bit where Fin can't open a pickle jar is just absurd. Does he suddenly have severe arthritis? Parkinson's? What is at the heart of this inability to twist a metal lid on a glass jar? Yeah, yeah, we get the heavy handed metaphor about aging and whether or not he still has it, but come on.

If it wasn't for silliness like that, this episode would have made it into the 8 range or maybe even higher, depending on whether or not the silliness was replaced with something better. As it stands, this is the best SVU episode in a long time. But, of course, in the Kingdom of the Blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Most enjoyable episode in a long, long time!
Peanut_Gallery_Viewer18 February 2023
This is the first SVU episode I actually enjoyed beginning to end in a long time. The plot and characters were more engrossing than the usual "social media" based stuff that has been the fodder of the past seasons. Finn is a character that has much more depth to be explored after so many years, and while Olivia was great how much more can you wring out of that one (especially with her dreaded loud whisper - ughh). I also really liked that this was apolitical, and just a story about getting justice for someone who needed it.

Let's hope they bring a lot more stories like this to us this season.

Best new episode in a longtime
zachlopez-860142 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I found it interesting in the kind of theme of Special Victims cases it explored. That one scene where he falls back to the wall after the suspect escapes the scene, where he has an anxiety attack after reliving his suffering really touched me emotionally. It was sad, you could see the fear in his eyes, that feeling of hopelessness of justice too late is justice denied. I almost cried after seeing that I'm glad this victim got the justice he deserved after all that happened to him in 23 years since he was 17. This episode really brought attention to the other kind of crimes that happen within prison, not just on the outside in the streets.

CABRAL! CABRAL! CABRAL!
claycalderonblood15 May 2023
Richard Cabral was nothing short of excellent! His intensity from the moment we saw his eyes to the final scene with his daughter was captivating! Olivia's toast to iced tea was spot on! Finn has always been street smart thug with compassion! The age that was branded on Colorado's chest was so realistic and the scene between iced tea and Dutch was realistic!

Initially I thought that Dutch was going to avenge his arrest but come to find that he was a victim of rape and corruption was a great plot twist. This was the first time I saw a criminal cooperate with law enforcement on the show, it was a great idea! The final scene between Dutch and his daughter brought tears to my eyes, exceptional writing complimented by amazing acting!

Thank you Law & Order team!

Richard Cabral as Dutch AMAZING performance
rossana_alpizar31 May 2023
I loved this episode, a little long and roughe the scene between Ice T and Richard Cabral, but I really love every time that RC appears in any show, and the opportunity this show gave him to developed the very perturbed charater,I hope watch more and more from this actor and many years more for this great show, hope stop changing the cast, feeling as they are about to change Velasco, I hope not :), I like the DEctective Bruno sense of humr but not that much, and I enyoj Velasco whit a lot of emotional bagagge and hard sad story, I would hate that he were Dirty, Thanks a lot to one of mu favorites tv shoes ever!

Dutch Tears
bobcobb3011 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Dutch Tears" was a different kind of episode for Law and Order: SVU, but the results of it were kind of mixed. I don't think SVU would go up all night to help a criminal that broke into one of the sergeant's homes and has a questionable past.

The "Dutch" character was just so unlikable too and I doubt that 100% of that was by design. It felt like either poor casting or just a disconnect in why people want to watch the show.

They are trying some different things and for that i am grateful, but I want the show to also stick to the basics that have kept it on the air and kept fans happy for decades.

Need More Fin Please
shelbythuylinh25 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Fin really we need as really was not sure of Ice T the rapper who sung about cop killers now is playing a cop there. And really the character and rapper turned actor can grow on you.

He is the breakout character even though the show was originally Elliott and Olivia show now it is more the latter show while the former is on Organized Crime currently.

Still Fin was in narcotics before transferring to S. V. U. And one of the very last person he arrested in narcotics has a grudge against him. Holding Fin at gunpoint saying he ruined his life when he was sent to prison as a youth and was sexually and physically abused.

Realizing that the guy can never find closure until he said he was wrongfully imprisoned, to get the corrupt correctional officers that led to his abuse.

Despite not having enough evidence, ADA Sonny hopes he can find some as Fin takes a risk on this now grown man to get his justice.

But never ever repairing the years he can get back while behind bars. But it will help him move on.

Before going to his apartment to be held at gunpoint, Olivia throws a party for Fin to say thank you.

Awesome Redemption Story
osuka-191399 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode got me hooked from the beginning. The ending almost had me teared up. It is an issue that a lot people tend to avoid talking and this episode shows how this issue can greatly effect a person's whole life. Fin and Dutch were the highlight of this episode to me. Seeing Dutch's emotions, on what he had been thru was really well portrayed by that actor.

Also seeing the relationship between Liv and Fin and how close they are shows the very long relation they have as co-workers in law-enforcement. I like how Fin's buddies went out of their way to help him find the culprits of this episode.

The writing on this show is hot garbage!!!
Theseshowssuckballs18 February 2023
This episode makes no sense what so ever. I've been watching this show for years and years now and to be fair the show has been going downhill for years and years now too!!! But this episode is by far the laziest writing, not to mention the worst acted episode of any show I've ever watched in my life, and that's dead ass....any show in the history of television not just SVU. Of course if we're going to be honest is saying something because not one of these actors has ever even sniffed an award for their acting chops. Think about this.... it's extremely sad subject matter but I personally laughed out loud like 10 times. Mainly because the story makes no sense at all and then the acting is bordering on pathetic!! There's no proof of any of it, it's all speculation and hear say not one witness, Fin falls in love with this guy story because he's old and forgot how to know these crack heads down a few pegs like the old days!!
