With the exception of the last sketch with the corporate setting, every single part of this week's episode was funny. The writers seem to be hitting their stride, and I'm sure Quinta Brunson contributed her comedic wit to the writing as well. Quinta was a great host who worked well with the cast. Traffic Altercation, Couple Goals, and Drug Dealer were probably my favorites of the night (I've already rewatched Drug Dealer a couple times). The Bridesmaid Cult Documentary was, unfortunately, very accurate (and funny). I thought the music was a little subpar, and, as I mentioned, the last live sketch was just not funny at all, so I'm giving it an 8/10.

Finally an episode that is funny from beginning to end.

To be perfectly candid, the last several seasons of Saturday Night Live have been a complete disaster. I'm not saying that maybe 1 or 2 skits have been somewhat of a chuckle per show, but on the whole they have been completely unfunny. This episode is certainly the exception. Also interestingly the new members of the cast have started to shine in this episode. I'm not sure if they have gotten some new writers or not. In any event, I would highly recommend viewing this episode. One addtional thing that I could recommend is getting rid of musical acts on the show. I find that they tend to bring the pace of the show to a grinding halt.
CRACKED: Everything Cracked Everywhere All at Once

If only Bevis and Butt-Head could have been there to make some of their trademark sarcastic comments about Lil Yachty's ridiculous costume and annoying performance, it may have gone something like this:
"You suck!"
"Why is his name Lil Yachty? Does he like own a small yacht?"
"Get out of my TV set, dumbass!"
"Is he trying to look like a buffalo or what? Hey dude, you're lame! Heh, heh. Take some singing lessons at a community college."
There was some cracked cocaine, cracked bridesmaids, a cracked game show, a cracked midwife and a cracked tour of New York City ethnic food restaurants.
The sooner that Lorne dumps Che and Jost, the better.
I had never heard of Quinta. She did not contribute much to this particularly cracked episode.

Brunson Great! Half the Show Not and Falling, Falling

Okay, who knew Quinta Brunson was so entertaining? She's ten times funnier than the usual. While her monologue was at best good, the first 45 minutes of this show was stellar. Funny, funny skits with some sharp jokes and pushing the censors, as well as a great opening sketch about Trump.
Then they went to Tiny Boat, the musical guest's, first round of bland, forgettable music and the whole show shifted. Everything lost whatever energy and quality that first 45 minutes had. Nothing matched the inspired bathroom coke skit or the hilarious stuck in traffic exchange, where among other things, Chloe Fineman did a superb job pushing the boundaries.
Instead -- and for the first time a long while -- the weekend update was incredibly flat. Some overly long, dumb bit with the Statue of David, some dull, self-indulgent stuff about playing an April Fools joke on Colon Jost, and then this long bit about body shaming short men.
Okay, let's look at that further. What is it about body shaming men that is okay? For some reason, there's at least one skit an episode that body shames men. And it's always "punching down" short men or bald men or men who can't find women or whatever.
The rest of the episode just fizzles away. Some midwife skit that, I guess, is supposed to be funny because Bowen Yang plays the midwife with increasingly long hair. Yuk, yuk. Yet another video with those three numbs just recycling the same schtick as always. There's almost hope at the very end, when they do an office sketch about workplace harassment (which is unintentionally funny given the whole toxic body shaming men thing). But it goes from being absurd and over the top to being this weird singing duet that isn't funny. And it goes on and on and on.
All in all, they should have just stopped before the musical guest came out mumbling. Those first 45 minutes are inspired. Quinta Brunson is funny, and I think she's got a big career ahead of her. SNL? Not so sure.
