Engulfing, Soothing, Realistic
abhineetmisra20 May 2023
If you're even a bit interested in non commercial cinema then this is a must watch for you. Starts with a pretty basic setup but in no time it'll take you on a deep journey of emotions filled with poetry where no judgements are involved and people speak their hearts out. It'll definitely teach you a lesson or two which one can follow for the the rest of their lives. Although it gets a bit slow somewhere in the middle but it doesn't affect it wholly, the climax is intensely interesting and shocking and it's open ended. The characters in the story are perfectly fitted and the writing is pretty smooth.

Trauma stricken strangers on a train develop friendship
madanmarwah20 May 2024
This movie is not for all types of audiences since it deals with two trauma stricken persons who meet and discuss their personal problems with each other over cups of coffee and have endless conversation as they take long walks. Iravati a mother of two has come to look after her pregnant niece in hospital. Preetam an office goer has a wife and two children. They meet at the train station and develop a friendship. Both are have their own trauma to deal with, are withdrawn, introverted, sad, pensive, bitter and nothing seems to be going well in their lives. They find relief and happiness in each other's company while discussing general problems of life. Some among the audience may find viewing this movie a moving and a therapeutic experience.

Director Raj Rachakonda has a serious subject at hand and his two main characters have sorrowful and gloomy expressions for most of duration because they have been through a lot of bad experiences in life. There are bits of dialogue which are motivational in nature and there is a message for all like he tells her to do deep breathing when she has a panic/ anxiety attack, she tells him to talk to a colleague to cheer him up, he wants to attend a cremation to atone for his faults, both dance in the rain for a few happy moments etc etc. There are a few light moments but the overall mood is of stress and distress. Both Gulshan Devaiah and Saiyani Kher have given fine performances.

A rare film to find these days!
Biswas_22 May 2023
8am Metro is a simple yet not for everyone film. It's slow and completely conversation driven. A lady named Iravati who is afraid of travelling in trains and also has some issues in life but loves writing poems stumbled upon a stranger played by Gulshan at a metro station in Hyderabad. They slowly get into a conversation and with similar likings , they soon become friends. These simple yet sweet conversations lead to individual characters discovering something about themselves especially Iravati. Gulshan even tried helping her overcome her fears . What ultimately happens at the end of these conversations is the plot .

It doesn't have a massive plot in it but through conversations, you get to learn so much. Theirs so much outside married life and sometimes, friendship with such stranger can definitely help you slightly get a relief from your hectic dysfunctional married life. The film very nicely does not promote affairs but simple friendship between opposite sexes and that it can exist definitely even if we are married. What iravatis husband could not do, a friend does it for her. Iravati too has a lot to offer for Gulshan .

But who is the man Gulshan is playing? That's the climax of the film that is enacted so brilliantly by Gulshan that you literally have tears in your eyes . The climax again proved that people often find solace in sweet friendships to forget tragedies in life but how do they live when these friendships break ?

There are some really nice poems to listen and nice songs. The one that Vishal Mishra sings in the climax when Gulshan breaks into tears literally can make a weak hearted man cry . It's so brilliantly executed .

Saiyami kher plays this character Iravati so brilliantly. Her character is mature and very well written. Even better is Gulshan's character. I sometimes feel , why men hide their pain just to give happiness and solace to a stranger woman? As i said, the climax he plays brilliantly.

Overall, i know this film won't be watched by many in theatres but when it comes on ott please do give it a watch as such films have become such a rarity that when one such comes out, it might have flaws but you just can't see them .

Truly Mesmerizing
senguptash25 November 2023
8 A. M Metro is an well crafted simple Movie based on critical relationship between two unknowns. The Movie is not having typical stuffs like Actions, VFX, drama, thrill, but revolves around strong acting portrayed by Saiyami & Gulshan and other supporting actiors. With it's well crafed dialogue, the Movie intends to deliver a strong message to the society and indeed an eye-opener .

It revolves around a complex relation between two persons accidentaly met in a Metro Station and therefore, finds their own means for their living.

From the Movie plot to superb Acting, awesome Direction, amazing poems (Unparallel contributions from@Gulzar) , touching songs(@Robin), Overall composer and flow of the plot, it is a movie to watch in the Year 2023. May not be comnercial success in Theatre but a must-see for the OTT when it would be released.

Kudos to the team for delivering such a gem of a movie in the era of sci-fi, VFX ..

A feel good movie like drizzle in summer
appajiambarisha22 May 2023
We all want a little peace in our rush life, but for that we try to go to some village and relax. Instead of whining about routine movies, same elevations and fights, instead of giving advises to film directors by saying at least learn by watching those Malayali and Bengali cinemas and make such decent films, watch this Hindi movie "8 AM Metro", directed by our Telugu man Raj Rachakonda (director and producer of a good movie like Mallesham) as his second movie.

As far as the story is concerned, Irawati, who lives a simple life with her husband and children and writes poetry whenever she feels like it, accidentally comes to Hyderabad. The main story is how Pritam, who met her there while she's struggling with her fears, took a turn in her life.

Saiami Kher as Irawati and Gulshan Devaiah as Pritam brought life to their roles. This film shows a new dimension in the acting of Kalpika Ganesh. There is no doubt that this movie which started with a poem will make us all entertainers. A must-like movie for those who have a taste for literature and poetry. This film is a beautiful depiction of Malladi Venkata Krishnamurthy's "Andamaina Jeevitham" novel. Raj has given us a good movie this summer, making us laugh with gentle humor in between. Sunny Kurapati has shown us with his cinematography as beautifully as Raj has presented the story to us. No one else has shown Hyderabad so beautiful. Mark Robbins, who has entertained with background scores till now, composed wonderful melodies and Gulzar's lyrics add elegance to the film. This is a festival for Gulzar lovers. Nimisha Nair, Rajeev Aneja, Jai Jha and Mahender acted to the extent of their roles.

A must watch movie for the entire family. It is noteworthy that Raj Rachakonda is the younger brother of our Telugu actress Jayashree Rachakonda. A film worth watching if made in Telugu as well.

BEST MOVIE!
grshravan22 May 2023
During the times where content is so oversold, exaggerated, twisted and yes, shown most of the time to monetize, watching 8AM Metro was so different, unique, beautiful, and surprisingly refreshing too. I say surprisingly refreshing because of the way the director/Raj takes us through the whole story so smoothly and easy.

It is so difficult to make a movie on a single topic. And in this movie Raj not only touches but goes into details of multiple critical topics. The topics that are so commonly seen in majority of people in the society today but hardly talked/discussed about. Raj shows his mastery of patiently and neatly weaving these serious, yet common issues, so beautifully. Very complicated and interlinked subject(s) such as depression, anxiety, extramarital, panic attacks, loneliness, told via a simple execution in a wonderful tale where two complete strangers meet and find solace in each other not worried of being judged. And enhanced with amazing poetry, scenic Hyderabad city visuals, and soothing music.

Though the movie seems to progress slowly, personally there was never a moment I felt it is being stretched or me wanting to move on to the next scene soon. Every scene was shot so naturally that one can relate to all the characters in their day-to-day lives. Even the way some light moments were incorporated as part of the main story and not independent track is so awesome and praiseworthy.

Finally, wonderful cast brings the directors vision in an authentic way on the screen. There are multiple moments in the movie that makes one feel the sharp pang in the heart.

I strongly recommend everyone to watch this movie for its content, direction, and subtle but strong acting. Please go to nearest theatres and watch it and encourage this pure 100% talent.

Tepid at best
malasasikumar-4638312 March 2024
Way too simplistic a premise with unconvincing plot twists and rigid acting. The main male protagonist seems to be recovering from a permanent hangover. He doesn't emote much even when he's trying to make the female lead learn to really love life. The female protagonist (Ira) dresses and behaves like a very professional domestic maidservant-she always seems to be braced and on the brink of rushing to her next dusting job. Her starched and tightly wound saris seem to bind her into her role even when she's coming emotionally unhinged at the beginning or loosening up as the story progresses. The younger sister is alternately hysterical, annoying, and pretty much unlikeable. Ira's husband's personality change happens too quickly to be believable.

This film could've done a lot more with mental health issues and the stigma surrounding them but it devolves into too long of a narrative with contrived passion.

A must watch for Movie Lovers
reachgrreddy22 May 2023
A super delight in watching and putting self into the characters of the movie. An amazing story supported by screenplay, great acting coupled with a great team work I guess makes this movie a must for cinema lovers. Keeping the surprise for se one-half is one of the best thing and leaves the audience mesmerized with the twists and turns in the story. Hyderabad has been shown at its best and some of the unique places. Gulshan Devaiah has given his best in his role. Saiyami Kher has proved her mettle by just fitting into the role that director Raj would have thought. She is a far matured and proved that she is an actor who can do any kind of roles. Based on a telugu novel by Malladi Venkata Krishna Murthy's "Andamyna Jeevitam" means a "Beautiful Life". Great movie ten out of ten. Kudos to Raj.

Some relations are truly beyond a name!
hmaravind-2460520 August 2023
#8amMetro Such a feel good and positive movie I watched after long time kudos to @gulshandevaiah and #sayami for brining the life to preetam and iravati.

Script with its twists awakens one's subtle emotions...acting penetrates the soul...very hard to find these days!

The film was an absolutely joy in its celebration of the mundane, of commonness, of the unpredictable sources of unconditional understanding that still makes us hopeful. Sprinkled all over with the beautiful poetry by Gulzaar saab. So many times I wanted to rewind back so that I could hear the poem once again.

This story is about the many faces of love. Our society burdens love. There are layers and layers of prescription on what, whom and how to love, what is acceptable, pre-fabricated expectations just like schooling, what to become in life, the successful images of a happy family where everything fits into pre-existing slots. The relationships become so stretched, subjected to litmus tests over and over again, that the radiation harms more than the disease, that it continuously snaps at the seams, resembling a worn out sheet, patched several times over. And worse still, it undermines friendship. Once married, that role assigns and dominates the place of all other relationships.
