Kind and thoughtful retelling of this tragic story
peter-692-87627412 December 2023
Here are my main takeaways from this thoughtful doc:

Terri didn't just have no brain activity; she had no physical BRAIN after severe hypoxia. Everything that anyone thought that they "saw" in her involuntary actions was wishful thinking in the service of hope, greed, or power, depending on who was doing the looking.

The Shiavos were unsophisticated people of deep and sincere faith who were cruelly used by people they approached for help.

Michael Shiavo is shown to be a decent fellow, thrown into an extraordinary horror for which there are no rulebooks. His navigation of the obstacles he faced was masterful. Here is someone who reached inward to find skills and resources few would have predicted.

Well worth watching for its humanity and for its basic kindness to all of the principals.
