Marvel’s Agent Carter is heading your way on January 6th, and you can finally get a decent look at the show.
The next venture in the Marvel television universe is a different game from what people might expect, and has little in common with the film and television efforts people are used to seeing. That’s hard to call good or bad at first glance, but it’s certainly an interesting move. Adding to the confusion, my best guess is that if you’re a fan of Marvel’s Agents of Shield, that doesn’t necessarily translate into being a fan of this one. That means recommendations are a confused affair.
As much as I never took to Marvel’s AoS, especially considering that it is a show that would have been pulled after two months at most if not for the fact that it is a marketing vehicle...

Get ready for Agent Carter. The Marvel drama starring Hayley Atwell has unveiled its first teaser, and it shows Peggy Carter in action. "Sometimes the best man for the job is a woman," is the tagline for the teaser. Atwell has already played Carter on the big screen in Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She also appeared in Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. #AgentCarter is coming to ABC Tuesdays this January. https://t.co/SjrLrVABgM — Agent Carter (@AgentCarterTV) October 29, 2014 Email: Aaron.Couch@THR.com Twitter: @AaronCouch See more Titans of Comic-Con: Stars Re-Create

Dominic Cooper ("Dracula Untold," "The Devil's Double") is officially set to reprise his role of Howard Stark in the upcoming ABC series "Marvel's Agent Carter".
Cooper played Tony Stark's father in Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger" and then returned for a cameo at the end of the "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter" which led to the creation of this limited series.
Atwell returns as Peggy Carter who has to deal with being marginalized once WWII ends and Steve Rogers is gone. Enlisted to the Ssr, the earlier incarnation of what we now know as S.H.I.E.L.D., she does administrative work and goes on secret missions for Howard Stark.
Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj, James D'Arcy and Shea Whigham also star.

While there was never any real reason to seriously doubt that he would do so, it’s now been made official that Dominic Cooper will return as Howard Stark in Marvel’s upcoming Agent Carter TV series. Cooper first played the Stark family patriarch in Captain America: The First Avenger and had a cameo role in last year’s Agent Carter One-Shot short film.
Marvel announced the news early Tuesday morning, but did not include any indication of how large Cooper’s role will be. My guess is that he’ll be a recurring character on the series, thanks to his involvement in the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the inclusion of “secret missions” that the titular Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) will be tasked by Stark to accomplish.
Tell us, are you excited to see Dominic Cooper don the mustache of Howard Stark once more? Let us know in the comments below.

The synopsis from Marvel:

Marvel Studios announced today at San Diego Comic Con who was going to be directing the first episodes of Agent Carter all of which are big names surrounding the Captain America franchise. Come inside for all the wonderful details.
Marvel Studios co-president Louis D'Esposito himself will actually be directing the pilot. The Russo Brothers, of Captain America: The First Avenger fame, will be directing episodes two and three. The big surprise came when Joe Johnston, the director of Captain America: The First Avenger, stated he wanted to do the fourth episode. Fans apparently felt a collective sigh of relief given the Internet rumors about Johnson clashing with Marvel's top brass.
They later released the following press release: Marvel's Agent Carter - starring Captain America's Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the...

Marvel has announced that Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston and Captain America: The Winter Solider directors Joe and Anthony Russo will be brought in to direct episodes of the studio's new ABC TV series Agent Carter.
Co-president of Marvel Studios, Louis D’Esposito, will take on the pilot episode, which will star Hayley Atwell reprising her role from the films as Peggy Carter, one of the original S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. The series is set in 1947 after World War II has ended and while Steve Rogers is frozen in ice.
I love that Marvel is bringing on these directors to help bring this series to life. It just tells me that there's a good chance that it's going to be a great series. Here's the synopsis for the series:

Of all last week's Us TV renewal and commissioning news, perhaps the most exciting was the go-ahead being given to Marvel's Peggy Carter spin-off series, coming to ABC in the Us.
Not only did the Agent Carter Iron Man 3 DVD one shot promise great things for a potential Agent Carter series, but the hope is that a regular TV outing with a Marvel heroine in the lead could warm the cold feet of movie producers reticent about making female-led comic-book movies.

Yesterday, ABC announced that they would be staying in the Marvel business by not only renewing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season, but by ordering Agent Carter straight to series as well. Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as the fan-favorite co-founder of S.H.I.E.L.D., Peggy Carter. For those unfamiliar with the character, she showed up in Captain America: The First Avenger, her own Agent Carter One-Shot short film, and had a brief appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Fans have been clamoring for a female-led Marvel Studios project for a while now, and while it may be a few years before we see a superheroine lead her own film, Agent Carter is a great start. Atwell has been fantastic as Carter and is easily one of the most memorable and endearing love interests that we’ve seen in a superhero film. It was...

The network has also renewed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season. There are no surprises here folks. Of course ABC was going to pick these shows up. Everything Marvel is gold right now.

ABC must be feeling all kinds of Marvel-lous today, having finally confirmed production of the long-rumoured TV series, Marvel’s Agent Carter. Featuring the fan-favourite character from Captain America: The First Avenger (and her own Marvel One-Shot), Peggy Carter, this is most decidedly not a ‘let’s try it and see how it works’ situation – this is a show that has been ordered straight to series.
And not before time. There has been a growing call for a lead female character in the Marvel Universe – spurred on by comments from Kevin Feige stating that we won’t be seeing a female-led Marvel movie until at least 2018. Executives have employed the usual counter arguments, pointing out that most Marvel movies and TV shows have strong female supporting characters, such as Black Widow, but this has only strengthened the desire for a real, honest-to-goodness leading female.
The character of Peggy Carter is a sure-fire bet.

Finally, the project that was destined for ABC‘s 2014-15 schedule despite no one being allowed to talk about it, is out in the open. As we predicted, ABC picked up Marvel’s Agent Carter in conjunction with renewing Marvel’s freshman drama, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The order to Agent Carter is straight-to-series. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have revealed some new details about the hour-long drama series "Agent Carter" based on Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter character from the first "Captain America" film.
The pair confirm the pilot script has been written and Atwell is interested in returning as Peggy Carter. Dominic Cooper is also expected to have a recurring role as Tony Stark's father Howard Stark.
The series will be set in the year 1946, the same timeline as seen in the "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter" short film. Markus says "If you cut the One-Shot directly right down the middle, and you don't get to the next morning, you've got a whole show in there."

Sneak Peek action fight footage of Hayley Atwell as 'Agent Carter' from the "Marvel One-Shot" movie, soon to be a television series.
"It’s a year since 'Cap' plunged into the ocean," said Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito.
"And in our mind, we said there’s a few 'Ssr' offices. If you want to relate it to now, it’s like the 'Oss', the precursor to the 'CIA'.
"The Ssr is the precursor to 'S.H.I.E.L.D.'
"There’s some satellite offices in New York and right now their primary concern is getting 'Zodiac'...
"...it's deadly, it's important, bad guys are guarding it, and it's imperative she gets it."

Chicago – We’re back with the new releases on Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming services from the last week that we think are the most interesting. Our fearless leader, Adam Fendelman, will have a lot to say about “Mr. Nobody,” now On Demand, in coming weeks and we’ll include that in next week’s What to Watch, but these are the four new Blu-ray/DVD releases that are most likely to grab your attention.

“Room 237”
“Room 237” is a brilliant documentary because it’s not just about people who obsessively dissect film but actually recreates that feeling of going down the rabbit hole with them into their mindsets. “The Shining” is one of the most beloved horror movies ever made and any genre film with that kind of following is bound to engender detailed analysis. How detailed? You have No idea. A great...

The home release of Iron Man 3 is definitely couch potato worthy. You’ll need a day to watch the very entertaining extras on the Blu-ray including the Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter, which introduces us to the first lady behind S.H.I.E.L.D. and a sneak peek at the Thor sequel.
After watching Robert Downey Jr. in what may be his last stand alone movie as Iron Man, the new Blu-ray/DVD release of Iron Man 3 serves as a reminder that no other actor will be able to fill those iron shoes. The behind the scenes extras demonstrates the charisma Downey brings to the role in front and behind the cameras. There’s some appeasement knowing he’ll return as part of the Avengers, but that may

Like most people, I enjoyed the heck out of Iron Man 3; it was fast, loud, noisy, and things blew up really well. The handoff from Jon Favreau to Shane Black was a step in the right direction and the casting was superb.
The movie, out now from Paramount Home Video, is definitely a sequel to The Avengers and not Iron Man 2, which everyone now seems to have declared a misfire. Clearly, the United States government has backed off demanding the armor now that they owe him their lives. It didn’t hurt that he allowed Jim Rhodes to keep the War Machine armor for America’s use.
Having Tony Stark deal with the aftermath of nearly dying while trying to end an alien invasion gave the film a nice weight, allowing us to explore the character from a new perspective. The metaphor of his anxiety and the malfunctioning...

Here's a quick casting update for a couple of actresses both undeniably on the rise, and each booking some high profile projects to add to their impressive CV. First up, Hayley Atwell—probably best known to nerds as Peggy from "Captain America: The First Avenger" and the upcoming "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter"—has tweeted today, "Shooting Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella in Pinewood this week." No word yet on her role, but she joins an already impressive cast for Disney's live action reboot, that includes Lily James in the lead, Cate Blanchett as the Evil Stepmother, and "Game Of Thrones" star Richard Madden as the prince, along with Holliday Grainger and Sophie McShera as the stepsisters. As Den Of Geek have noted, she'll be play Cinderella's biological mother. The actress can be seen next in the Andre 3000-starring Jimi Hendrix flick "All Is By My Side." "Cinderella" drops on March 13, 2015. Meanwhile,...
