Ayo is incredibly diverse, impressive acting

So admittedly, I am not familiar with Ayo Edebiri's acting ability but I was interested in watching her as the host based on her 2024 Emmy and Golden Globe win. I was excited to see her hosting, and this was my introduction to her talent. Not only did she keep herself completely relatable in the opening montage, but I absolutely blown away with this episode. She stole the show with her ability to adapt to every single character and give each her own unique talent and perspective. She pretty much stole every scene she was in. Absolutely remarkable. Keep up the great work Ayo! She made this episode extraordinary.

Ayo is a star

Ayo is a star and so was the writing this week. This might be one of the best SNL episodes in a long time. Only thing that brought it down was JLo's awful singing.

The hypnotists sketch had me cackling. The meet cute sketch was funny and cute. The straight edge college student was perfectly executed. The game show about past Instagram comments had me re-examining what I should be commenting. Colin Jost's son on weekend update was soooo good.

Seriously, everything was perfect (except any time that JLo was on stage). You know, even with autotune her voice really just hurts the ears. Please stop encouraging her!

This episode is a must watch.

How can you think that?

I sometimes wonder if my tastes diverge a lot from the mainstream, and tonight's episode of SNL in many ways confirms that to me. Not that it's a bad thing.

I have heard some high praise for this episode on Reddit, and maybe that's a small echo chamber but wow does it surprise me.

IMO this was easily the worst episode of the season. After watching her in "Bottoms" and seeing the same style of humor on display here, I can say confidently that I do not enjoy Ayo's style of comedy. She overacts in the extreme. There is absolutely nothing subtle about anything she does.

The voice is grating and hard to listen to. Just. Awful. On so many levels. How on Earth do people think she's some kind of comedic genius? Incredibly unfunny episode.
