It's all about giving an ending!
konefsta13 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The final episodes of a series, it doesn't suppose to contain twists and smart moves or anything. It's about giving viewers a closure. A series like Sons Of Anarchy can't have a happy ending. We are talking about people who brutally murder people here. Jax EARNED the highest of respects from his crew from what he had done. He made possible to get rid of the guns and drugs for his club by giving them to the Mayans and the Niners, and he managed to let the other charters continue being bonded with redwood original, as he had to die.

Jax could not raise his children, let's be realistic about this. He never could. Every time he was home his communication with his children was minimal to non-existent. He loves them yes, but he is not a role model dad. Neither is Wendy but at least she got cleaned.

The ending episode gave me closure knowing that the club is in a way better position than ever, with a very good new president, and Jax, as much as i did not wanted him to die, he had to. Him dying was probably the most realistic thing to do.

The only thing that i didn't like was the slow cop chase, it seemed like they were running with 5 miles per hour, but the chase scenery was awesome, and the way Jax decided to fall, on his bike like a true rider.

I'm gonna miss this show, but i'm glad it ended now before it gets boring.

Papa's Goods (#7.13)
ComedyFan201022 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I personally loved the ending. Somehow I was not a person who predicted it. Until the very beginning of the episode. Then it hit me what Jax's plan was. Which also explains why he had to kill Gemma. He wanted to take everyone and everything out that can harm his boys.

So the whole episode is simply us watching Jax getting ready for the end and try to get ready ourselves as well. So many emotional moments.. Him leaving the club, at the cemetery at Opie's and Tara's graves. And his final words at the spot where his dad was killed.

And then he goes into his death. The ending is not 100% realistic. Obviously all those cops would have no problems getting him. But does it have to be? It ends in a sort of poetic, symbolic way. All those little things, the crows, the truck, that truck driver that we knew, the little moments with the homeless girl who we saw all the time before but I never gave her a thought, Jax with all the police behind him. And then lifting up his arms while flying into his death.

I am pretty touched by it. Tears in my eyes, and something heavy on my chest. A perfect ending to a perfect show.

One of the best series finales ever
katewalsh8325 February 2020
I recently rewatched SOA after watching a few episodes of "Mayans" (Kurt Sutter's "Sons" spin-off) and was blown away all over again. What surprises me more, though, are all the negative reviews of this masterpiece on here. Is it realistic? No. Is it an accurate depiction of a biker club? No. It's not supposed to be. It's a TV drama and, from the humble perspective of one of the most girlie girls on the planet, it's a DAMN fine one. Every scene is amazingly shot, the soundtrack is one of the most badass ones ever, the writing is sharp and wittty, the characters are beautifully developed and all of the acting is on point. "Papa's Goods" is no exception. Charlie Hunnan absolutely slays it as Jax Teller, from his first scene to his last. I will forever be thankful to Kurt Sutter for blessing us with this fantastic creation that was way ahead of its time.

Beautiful Ending To An Awesome Series
jarrettrizza9 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This finale was just beautifully done, Kurt Sutter did an amazing job of tying the whole show together from Episode 1. If you re-watch the first episode of Sons of Anarchy the show starts with two crows on a highway eating trash and Kurt Sutter beautifully recreated this scene again at the end of the show with two crows on the side of the highway eating trash just seconds before Jax's final moments. The fact of Kurt Sutter fulfilling Jax's father's legacy was very nicely done. As Jax realizes that he has nothing left to lose and his time is up after he sees the truck and is ready to go this scene was beautifully done in showing Jax's connection with his father. I really think Sutter did an incredible job at the end of the show where we see blood spilling on the highway near the crow's (Jax's blood after the crash) showing that everything is back to the way it was in the beginning, new president, new VP, no more trouble just back to the way everything was and I think it was beautifully done. As for wrapping everything up I think they could've done something else as for showing what happened with Nero and Wendy and what was the rule that Jax wanted to break when he talked to the presidents in the episode before but besides those two facts this finale was one of best finales i've seen in a while. 9/10 amazing job Sutter, wish it wasn't over but you did an amazing job these past 7 years, hope to see more from you soon

It still affect me, every time I hear that song and see the final scene. Never has a finale stuck with me for so long, maybe because I didn't have any expectations for this final season. And yes, SOA has the best music ever you will listen on a tv series.

Superb ending to a show that did everything right
IMDBelievable19 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
When i first heard of Sons of Anarchy i thought, "just a lame biker show that's for motorcycle junkies, not for me" I watched one episode and loved it since. This was a show that got rid of characters at the right time, knew when it was time to end and though sometimes a boring episode here or there was powered from the love the characters brought and superb writing. This finale was excellent, any true fan knows that their was no other way for Jax to go out but death, would it make you feel better if he met Mr. Mayhem? He deserved it, yes but Jax wasn't going out like that. Jax did it at peace, finishing all the necessary pieces with Borowoski, Marks, and setting Chibbs up to be the President. The blood on the high way with the crows was brilliant, Sutter knew how to make a boss ending that would leave you sad but satisfied. I've seen some amazing shows go out in the worst of ways but Sons of Anarchy's arguably last 3 episodes of series were the best 3 episodes of the show, period. Sad to say good bye, great finale, great ride. " I got this."

What Outlaw is about
batzios710 December 2014
I see some guys criticize the ending, even comparing Sons Of Anarchy with other great shows. It is hard to understand what an outlaw kind of livin is all about, especially when you have no experience about it.Sons isn't only about smart scenes ,unpredictable turnovers and intelligent quotes. There are plenty of these elements in the show all these seasons, but that's not the point. This story is about life lessons, exactly as they come of the actions of a man living on the other side of the law.We should not confuse things with meaningless contrasts.

I only feel respect for this show.

End scene explained...
dtnmusic23 August 2021
For everyone who thinks the cops would have caught him... remember OJ simpson's real life cop chase while being pursued for murder? Jax riding calmly kept the chase calm, more of a pursuit. It's realistic enough to work.

Come Join the Murder
ghanima_atrieadies20 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show is amazing. Detractors will find something to complain about wether it be the violence, the writing, the way things spin out of control, whatever. There is nothing about this show I don't like. Kurt Sutter and his crew did an amazing job.

There are not very many show that garner the serious messy crying I do each time I watch this finale. Come Join the Murder was perfect...and the crowd flying out of the trees... the feels.

Did he take 'a cowards way out' ?
winstonwolf8110 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
For a character that was so hooked on brotherhood and doing what's right for his club - I kinda felt let down by the ending, was an easy way out, some might say even cowardly.

The fact that Clay met 'Mr. Mayhem' previously as per a club vote and Jax didn't, or was he scared to meet his fate?

Either way I would of much preferred him to answer for his hostile actions. The 'Jackson Teller' character became really unlikeable over the past few seasons. I think the writers went to the 'club vs family' well too often; it became overkill.

He is often quoted saying 'this club, and you guys mean more to me than anything'. Surely if he felt that way he would abide by the rules for doing what he did.

Oh well...

Overall i'd put Sons and Kurt Sutter's other series, The Shield on a level par. When it was good it was good. But unfortunately for us viewers, it was mostly average, most of the time.

"It's time"
AlFoster338 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
That phrase pronunced by the girl who showed up every time death was near Jax or Gemma, sounded like if the reaper itself was embodied in human form to tell the main character of this story that the end was here. And that's the matter after all this 7 seasons, for Sons of Anarchy was a story about an outlaw man in an Motorcycle Club who wanted to change things and come clean like his father before him wantend. I really like the episode, it had pretty much everything that needed to make a full closure for Jax Teller and the MC.

Last i want to thank Kurt Sutter for making a beautiful tv series like this one, it was really enjoyable to watch.

PD: Loved your character Otto, felt bad when he died but at least he went out like a boss!

Series Finale !!!
neilae5 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This series finale was, IMHO, the best series finale I have ever seen. Such a powerful episode. It makes having watched the entire series quite fulfilling. The "Come Join The Murder" music in the final scene was amazing. Those images of Jax Teller with that music will remain with me forever. Classic tragedy. Sympathetic ending for a character often not so worthy of empathy.

The perfect conclusion
natashagreeff17 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A tragic end to an ultimately tragic tale.

Throughout the show we have seen Jax's character development - for the worse in many ways. Yet deep down, you get the sense that he is a decent person.

He knows that the only way he can fulfill his father's legacy is to sacrifice himself for SAMCRO by tying up all the loose ends without fear for the legal repercussions (and without burdening another member of the crew).

I also really enjoyed all the religious symbolism in this, including the red wine/bread (the body and blood of Christ), the crucifix that he makes with his arms as he rides to his death, and to Milo shouting 'Jesus' in a clever double-entendre as he sees this.

Suggesting that Jax is a twisted Jesus - sacrificing his life for the good of 'man-kind'.

Lastly, the song (I believe written by Sutter) was... perfect. Again, filled with clever wordplay like "Come Join the Murder", in it's literal sense but also the collective for a group of crows (SAMCRO).

Disappointing and predictable
foghorn_clj3 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
For a series that had a solid 6 years of brilliance (with the 7th year being just average) this series finale was so blah and predictable it truly was a huge disappointment.

It doesn't help that the character of Jax gets more and more unlikeable as season 7 goes on due to him and SAMCRO dropping bodies left right and centre without so much as a hint of remorse. The guy spends no time with his sons after the death of their mother and leaves it to his psychopathic mother and former junkie-ex to raise them.

Sure in the end he does the right thing for his kids and makes sure that they don't follow in his footsteps by glamorising the life of an outlaw. But other than this real moment the rest of the episode was just like any other. And Jax committing suicide the same way as his father? Boring. Personally I was hoping SAMCRO would send him to meet Mr Mayhem (now that would've been a kick ass ending).

However this lacklustre finale doesn't tarnish the brilliance of the rest of the series.

Stupid ending to a great show
lars349-118 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
If you love the show you should stop 15 min before the final episode ends. I am pretty sure you will be able to imagine a better ending. I found it cheesy (Jax saying goodbye to the club and "talking" to his father", confusing (The homeless girl, wine and bread), unrealistic (The police are using 20 cars and 5 motorcycles and still they can't stop an old bike on a bumpy highway) and downright stupid (Riding on a bike with "No hands" on that road, the CGI of the crash, the crows, the bread and the flood of blood). Seems like the team behind it wanted to tie a nice little noose around the whole show, but in my opinion they tied it too tight and strangled it instead. Comic book guy would surely call this "worst ending ever"
