"Thrilling conclusion of one of the most promising sci-fi series in last years, probably, maybe"

Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILERS* Bing watched all season 1 of "Dark Matter" and last episode gave us really good ending.Sorry not good excellent ending...episode was thrilling and you are going to be always on the edge of your seat.It was really nice to keep guessing who is "the bad" guy on "Raza" space ship.Didn't see that coming because show give us in episodes before a story of some guys in team.I always thought that the one who is going to betray the team is gonna be "ONE"(but that was a little bit on the nose) or maybe "FIVE"(in last five minutes of the episode i was thinking that that)but to be "SIX" whit his story, didn't see that coming but maybe i am stupid, who knows. Is "SIX" the bad guy or he is the good one,he was all season long.

Hope this show get back soon, because it is really great to have a some sci- fi in this golden age of TV....Watch "Dark Mater" you won't regret it!!!

How About Some Growth?

Let's face it. The criticism of others is pretty valid. A writer says, let's pit everyone against everyone else. Despite the incredible escapes they've had, dependent on trust, they go into Lord of the Flies mode. Everyone is an enemy and hence they are all enemies. I'm still enjoying it, but the motivations seem crass. The ending was cheap, just to get us to Season 2 wondering about another escape. Could they have accomplished this a bit differently. Oh, I am so tired of 3.

It is what it is

After the previous episode or two, this finale felt a bit mediocre. The previous episode was one of my favorites. It felt like *finally* we're getting some actual mythology and we're going someplace. It made me feel like so much time was wasted on filler over the season. Entire shows fighting faceless drones. Everyone being way too serious, just filling their tropey role and being two dimensional. No wit or humor to break things up. I realize eventually the traitor had to be revealed and it's my second time watching so I knew who the traitor was. When you know who it is, you can sit back and pick up on details you missed the first time. It just feels like the reveal was not done in an interesting way and way too much time was spent running in circles, just more filler to get to the final reveal.

It also really emphasized the weakness of the characters and writing. There's lots of time in this episode to be more annoyed by how whiny and wushu washy One and Five are. How one dimensionally grumpy and unsmart Two is. To notice how Four is just written out of the way for so much of the show in general- and you're not missing him much because he has even less dimension than Two. Three is about the only one I root for (other than the Android) and I think that's all a credit to the skill and charisma of the actor who can do a lot with not much of a script.

Before writing about this finale, I was going to give this episode a 7 but I realize it doesn't deserve to be that high. At least there finally was a reveal, but it is pretty anticlimactic the farther you get away from it. All that running around the ship just emphasized how uninspired the set designs are and how cardboard and soulless the world is the characters inhabit. At least this time around I can go straight to the next season instead of having to wait several months while thinking about all the show's flaws.

Boring
crazyredargyle1 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode went nowhere and offered little resolution to he cliffhanger from the previous episode. The whole episode was just the entire cast wandering around the ship yelling "You did it!" to everyone. What could have been done in 10 minutes of footage is drawn out into nearly an entire episode.

The bickering that you grew to dislike the entire season becomes the main focus of this final episode. It's clear that this episode is meant to have you question the intentions of the entire crew but, in my opinion, the character with the worst intentions was obvious, because there's one character that never joins in on the conversations... This episode lacked the excitement needed for a season finale.

A spineless ending to an otherwise rather good Sci Fi Jaunt.
GraXXoR20 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was a lacklustre episode that failed to move the plot forward in any meaningful way. As Crazyredargyle stated in his review. It was a two bit plot, pitching crew member against crew member in an extremely Hackneyed and clichéd setting worthy of a mediocre Murder She Wrote episode.

Everyone was a suspect, yet nothing new was offered to create any real doubt or suspense. There are no tells or hooks from previous episodes to tap into. It might as well have been a mini film in and of itself.

Nothing was answered and no new insights into any of the characters were given. Moreover, the landmark humour was completely absent and there was not a single moment of levity to brighten an utterly dull episode.

What separates this episode from a decent Whodunnit is that there were no real clues beyond some generic hints and there was no wow moment or even exposition.

All in all, I found myself fast forwarding through most of it at 2x speed to get it over with...

Finally, there was absolutely no closure just another cheap cliffhanger same as the previous episode.

Quite frankly I am shocked that it rated the highest of the season, since it lacked wit, humour, suspense and interpersonal relations that have made this show watchable this whole season.

9/10? You're saying this episode is better than pretty much any TV on IMDB?

Shockingly bad "climax" to an otherwise good start.

Uggh
GreyHunter24 October 2020
I've been trying to overlook the frequently clunky writing, the cliches, and the (somehow B-grade) soap opera drama that reads like a 15 year old's idea of how adults interact, in hopes that the series improves enough to explain/justify the not-terrible overall rating. This episode was not the one to inspire me to keep going into the 2nd season. The characterizations were awful and a complete betrayal of the (again, frequently clunky) character development of the season. The conflicts were utterly contrived, and required that we assume that every single person on the ship was too stupid to think for more than 3 seconds about their conclusions and logic. There was literally no reason for any of them to believe a single thing they said, and plenty of evidence that they shouldn't, all of which was ignored in the interest of forcing the "tension" of the episode.

There have been plenty of less-than-stellar episodes the first season. This one, however, was just plain bad. I see no need to mince words. The writers were complete hacks who need to either go back to their roots and work hard to improve themselves or just quit and get a job that plays to their strengths, because writing fiction clearly isn't one of those strengths.

Ugh. That's really the only rating this episode deserves.
