1.95: Sonnet #117: Solid delivery of the text in a decent context, but the unspoken section at the end only added confusion to my viewings

I guess the location of Grand Central Station is always going to put the filmmakers into the situation of having to make a journey or travel a key part of their delivery of whatever sonnet they have been given. In the case of the film of sonnet 117, it is a little unfortunate that a previous film had been there already, which was that of sonnet 143 which was completed some 18 months prior to this one (reminding me of what a labor of love this series is). This is not really a big deal but it just struck me that the film did what one would expect it to do more or less.

In the plot we see a woman, getting ready to leave on a train, lamenting to herself and former lover of the ending of their relationship. As the text is applied it seems that it is not a bad ending, and that the woman both accepts her part in it not working, but also feels that she should not be seen so harshly as perhaps present emotions mean she is. This is quite well delivered by the actress, and the ADR is nicely layered so that it does seem to fit the sound of the busy station (I assume anyway – at least it doesn't appear to have been recorded at the location). So in terms of the words and their place, it was pretty well done. I did not get much from the man running in at the end, nor from the piece of paper left behind which he then picks up and then has a wry smile over; I was not sure what this was supposed to mean in the context of either the text, or the film.

So as a delivery of the text, it is good and done with a decent context of an ending/ended relationship – however the section at the end only really added a bit of confusion to my viewing of the film, and I wasn't entirely sure what it was trying to do there.
