Good, but could have been better

Pilots aren't always very brilliantly done. And they are difficult to be done because they are first impressions and form the very premise of the show. MASTER OF NONE did a good job introducing the characters.

The opening sequence was hilarious. Dev doesn't even finish but goes to the medical store instead. Good guy Dev!

The two kids are brats. They were annoying. They could have used a different subplot instead of that. This might play out later, maybe it's essential to the plot or something of that sort, but if it doesn't, it could have been done away with.

A comedy isn't only about making people roll on the floor laughing or clutching their stomach from the pain of hysterical laughter, it's more about relating and making them feel for the characters. And this show seems to do it well enough.

I'm hooked!

Warning: Spoilers
We decided to dive in after the great showing this series had at the Emmy's. So glad we did! Plan B was funny, honest, awkward, and somehow has things to say. Aziz Ansari is at the top of his game here as the single guy who bumbles honestly into awkward but telling conversations with people about life and, in the case of Plan B, parenting.

My favorite part of Plan B was the way it captures the things that come at you as a dad that are unexpected. Like, kids commenting "innocently" about strangers' ethnicities, having to accompany a little girl to the bathroom, choosing a stranger to help with a parenting task. Along the way the characters have things to say that we all think at one time or another about parenthood, but rarely say. Tackling this topic first seems like a bold move, actually. Nicely done.

Smart writing, great performances, and lots of promise. I'm looking forward to more!

Started off really well.

The first 10 minutes or so of this episode were really, really good. The episode was funny, it introduced the characters very well, and was very enjoyable. Then Amanda showed up....

I think that her and her kids sort of ruined the episode for me. Amanda was a bit of a downer to be honest. I was really liking the overall feel of the episode but her character just brought it down for me. Is she supposed to be unlikable? Although it was fun to see Aziz Ansari as the main character, the kids in this episode also were a detractor.

The first 13 minutes were really enjoyable, fun to watch, and showed us some really likable characters. Although the rest of the episode wasn't as good, Plan B gets an 8 out of 10 from me.
