Engrossing gay drama features outstanding female (non-sex) performance

Warning: Spoilers
I had despaired of seeing this level of quality after watching almost a dozen all-male efforts from Nica Noelle that shared the characteristic of poor acting. The widely held shibboleth that porn performers can't act and who cares anyway ("only the sex matters") seemed to be operative as Noelle transitioned from her diet of boy/girl and girl/girl scenes to a somewhat different world of boy/boy sex - a field where promising young actors (as opposed to "sex performers") need not apply.

But that doesn't hold true in this film, shot on video as all her other work has been. One not so secret weapon is to use a mixed cast, avoiding the artificial and often boring results from "An All-Male Cast" as the gender segregated porn theaters used to advertise.

Title indicates a type of romantic drama that Nica has already covered dozens of times, for example in her similar My Sister's Lover, an out-of-print classic she made for her Sweet Sinner label starring Kylie Ireland and Tyler Knight. Protagonist Angel (Tommy Defendi in reportedly his final gay role) is a guy who despises entanglements, enjoying instead a series of one-night-stands. In fact, Nica departs from usual format to feature Defendi in all four sex scenes.

Angel's beautiful older sister is worried about him and his lifestyle, especially since he's living in their late parents' home alone, even sleeping in their former bed. Noelle's script has some interesting twists involving the siblings beyond the title's implication (of course, following the structure of all of Nica's similar films, Angel falls in love with his sister's lover), surprises I won't reveal but which add much to the storyline.

Of the four vignettes, the first one is of special interest as Tommy beds down with Nica regular Wolf Hudson - they alternate top and bottom roles in the anal sex department, an obvious thrill for their fans and unusual within a scene in Nica's work.

The auteur's female discovery Arden Leigh as sister Francesca is fabulous. She reminded me of Paulina Porizkova, not in glamorous supermodel mode but in her "plain" version as she appeared in the classic 1987 film "Anna" opposite Sally Kirkland. After watching Leigh's energetic and dramatic performance here I was surprised to discover that she isn't an actress, but rather a dominatrix who teaches women how to seduce male clients in the dom/sub world of BDSM! She certainly seduced me in this video.
