Agnes (Lora Burke) is a cold-hearted beauty living alone in a remote home. She sells man's items to the local pawn shop. She's contacted by Mike Mercer (Robert Notman) pretending to be a CNN reporter. When he shows up, he reveals that he's actually an investigator looking for a missing man. She's a serial killer. What's a girl to do but have sex with the guy and chain him up. He becomes her submissive and she brings home Chris.
The first hour is an interesting little two-hander. At times, it's almost a black comedy. Burke has a nice dark deadpan psychotic anger. The actors are not top notch or well known but they are able to play the parts. I'm fascinated to see this with two bigger actors. Mike needs something to make him more submissive. He should be a bespectacled nerd or maybe an overweight loser like Chris. Agnes would be more compelling if she has more humor in her character. She definitely has the crazy girlfriend vibe. Mike just needs to be weaker or more psycho-adjacent.
