So That's What They Were Up To
Hitchcoc18 May 2017
So the guys with the Afghanistan connection finally present the viewers with what this whole thing is about (and it's a lot). Bosch continues to pursue the movie director who has been able to destroy lives at will. There is a disgusting scene at his hacienda. Bosch's internal enemies continue to go after him and the international baddies do their thing. He is about to be framed as a tactic to discredit him. There is a startling scene that concludes this episode. Will the results come back to bite someone? I guess that's why we need to watch the next one.

Memorable intro sequence
snoozejonc16 August 2023
Bosch investigates the recent death of a character and contends with the suspicion of others.

This is a strong episode with a moving and particularly well made introductory sequence that has excellent visual storytelling.

From there it is mostly police procedural scenes and internal politics involving other characters who either dislike, tolerate or love the central character. These scenes are all solid, with good exchanges between actors and plausible dialogue.

The exception are the scenes involving Irving's personal life which generate sympathy for the character very well.

Certain scenes with J. Edgar depict Bosch a bit like a pouting teenager at times or like one half of quarrelling couple who holds a grudge. I hope this is not dragged out for too long.

Generally the cinematography, editing and art design is strong and the actors are on good form.
