Season 3 Episode 5: Desmin Borges took my breath away
sanjsrik29 September 2016
I don't know this actor. I've never seen him in anything before this. I've watched his amazing performances in the episodes before this one and yet, and yet...

The writer should be commended. The director should do this every time. Everything who works on this project should just let what happened on this episode happen.

Desmin Borges deserves his own particular brand of recognition. His performance in this episode (beyond how incredible he's been throughout the show), was beyond belief.

I was in complete awe of his acting and his ability with the material given him.

Desmin should be praised in ways that allow for recognition beyond acting in a TV series.

I want to thank Desmin for his work in this and ALL the other episodes. Just simply phenomenal.

Most accurate, respectful depiction of PTSD
bootscallahan12 September 2020
Like Edgar, I'm an Iraq War veteran. I am usually annoyed or even offended at representations of PTSD in media, so I was leery of starting this episode. But this is the most accurate representation of PTSD I've ever seen. It does not seem over-the-top or exploitive, and it humanizes the experience in a way many media representations do not. Sometimes, when I'm in a bad place, I think of Edgar and this episode. It calms me in a way that is hard to explain. On top of all that, the show is hilarious and irreverent while addressing difficult issues perfectly.

Warning: Spoilers
I've just started this series back up. I watched it when it came on TV and for whatever reason I stopped.

I'm in the middle of binge watching and I'm in the middle of S3E5. I had to come check if any awards had been given for this episode. I was actually at a point where I was about to stop watching the series because of Edger's PTSD. I wasn't enjoying the episodes because I couldn't stop thinking how he clearly needs help (I haven't finished the episode but I truly hope it does get to the point he gets the help he needs).

I've found myself not enjoying the other characters because they have not been able to see that he needs help, besides his GF who I just don't like but is the only one (so far) that can see he is at such a breaking point.

But Desmin Borges is pulling all my heartstrings. He is so convincing I'm almost in tears. I don't know if any episode in this series will be as great as this one so far. I had been thinking it's such a serious topic for such a comedic show but what the writers have done with this episode is really amazing. They did not have to put this episode in this silly ass show but thank goodness they did.

I went back to finished the episode after posting my review and now that the title has been explained I'm crying and I just want to hug Edgar!
