An interesting premise of human connection

Warning: Spoilers
The beginning of this short film is a bit distracting and hard in its development however once you get past the exaggerated combat scene it takes an unexpected turn into a study of two characters whom have more of an emotional connection and commonalities than they're superficial/ barbaric endeavor of war has them believing. The communication between the two characters despite their language barriers is well written and acted out. The nuances in each characters separate cultures and attitudes is interesting to see. The deep connection they develop after trying to kill each other is believable and moving. Even if the premise of being trapped in a random hole in the ground seems fishy the emotions from the characters do enough to override it. Then just about when you're ready to conclude the happy ending - the story aka brutality of war comes rushing back into the film and changes everything. Despite its minor flaws this film develops into a something that will stay with you well after you've watched it.
