Brilliant Writing

Warning: Spoilers
This show is so very well written.

Not once have I predicted the twists and turns.

This episode was brilliant and the twist at the end took my breathe away.

I am a huge fan of the Exorcist Movie and feared this series would be a typical let down. Not so.

The only frustrating thing is how often we are told not to listen to the demon. And yet everyone always does. It gets a bit old.

All the acting is wonderful. I haven't found one actor yet that has let the cast down.

Can't wait for more.

The writers behind this are brilliant and can keep you on the edge.. The special effects are immaculate (except for the crow in the first episode but its OK) The whole atmosphere lives up to the original and the story is gripping.. So the story continues and... following the characters internal battles, the demon is thriving on them, with excellent acting from all the characters, You know what.. Please watch it.. I keep repeating the music over and over in my mind.. But the surprise in this episode (episode 5) was not expected.. Watch.. Please.. Love it.. can't wait for the coming episodes and the atmosphere gets thicker and thicker, what will episode 6 hold for us in surprises? we'll have to wait and see..

Great reveal and turning point.

Warning: Spoilers
The exorcism of Casey Rance has finally arrived and all those involved must make a choice that will change their future forever.

Chapter Five retains the series gritty dark feel and The Exorcist continues to exceed expectations in 'Through My Most Grievous Fault'. It's partly a mile stone turning point for the characters, Alfonso Herrera's Father Tomas Ortega is tricked and later finally gives into temptation. With dramatic range the excellent Ben Daniels as Marcus Keane tackles the demon and his own inner demons head on. As an outsider looking in and believing it is a medical issue not a possession, underrated Brianne Howey as Katherine Rance former ballet dancer logically calls the police and has Marcus arrested.

Director Jason Ensler balances the real and supernatural world elements with finesse. Hannah Kasulka's Casey Rance (in almost a duel role is on form) the surreal inner demon fight with Robert Emmet Lunney's evil Salesman is developed further with creep execution. While the practical effects and makeup are welcomed debatably other effects are unnecessary, The Exorcist seems to work best when its focused on the characters and subtler moments rather than spectacle.

Writer David Grimm delivers a note worthy twist which connects it to the novel and subsequently the film. Alan Ruck's Henry Rance get more too do here and is key in revealing Geena Davis' Angela to be Regan MacNeil, also Sharon Gless appears briefly as Chris MacNeil. Its a chilling and dramatically weighty episode, there's nothing worse than gnarly demon feet on your chest, recommend.

4 Steps Forward, 3 Steps Back

Warning: Spoilers
This episode doesn't just stop the forward progress of the story, it brings it back almost to the beginning. A lazy soap-opera episode just as things were starting to get good. Worse than a wasted episode. A reason for me not to watch the rest of the series. A damned shame.

The two priests are constantly tricked into hallucinations when they are supposed to be prepared for them. It's embarrassing. The sister betrays the family by calling the cops and ending the whole thing "for her sister's own good." I couldn't tell which character was in more denial in this thing. And absolutely none of it shocked, surprised, scared, or thrilled me.

Have you ever watched a movie that should have been half an hour long but drew out for 2? Get ready and strap in for a lot of that here. Or don't waste your time. Watch the first four and make up the rest on your own. I guarantee you that whatever you imagine will be better than watching this episode.

The only reason this gets 3 instead of 1 is the production and performances are excellent. I really wanted to like this and am so disappointed.
