Most Disturbing Episode of Series
IboChild27 September 2016
For the most part, this eight episode series created by writer/director Joe Swanberg is forgettable. Two exceptions to that assessment are the episode entitled, "Art and Life" and this episode.

In "Controlada," a young couple receive a surprise visit from an old friend right after they move into a new condo. The friend immediately shakes up the couple's predictable existence, causing friction in the couple's relationship.

Along the way, the teleplay seems to butt heads with the emotional truth of the story, resulting in a very disturbing conclusion.

"Controlada" is unique among the eight episodes of the series in that the dialog is spoken almost entirely in Spanish.

Disturbing, Interesting, Hurtful
blackintel15 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As a man who enjoys relationships, this episode hurt due to the fact that cheating affects different people in different ways. Passion is one issue, but the ultimate disrespect that cheating does is what makes this episode so disturbing. Since Gabi will never tell her husband about her sexual encounter, I put myself in the place of the husband, who is basically just made into a chump. Male insecurities can be exploited by this episode and people who hold trust in high regards will also find the episode hurtful.

People misunderstand art
alesilvacastro17 December 2019
Good art doesn't make any judgments. Just because it shows an agressive approach doesn't mean the writer approves rape. If you show the bad things of the world, it doesn't mean you approve them. It just reflects life how it is sometimes. People get upset about a specific matter or their insecurities and want to blame directors or writers.

Hard to watch but beautifully made
gabmikk4 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode represents a situation that exists in real life but is rarely mentioned. Temptation. I couldn't have represented it as good as the director of this episode and this in only 30 min. I felt every look, every touch, every craving that she felt and more importantly this feeling of rape.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode takes real life issues that women sometimes face and puts them on screen. Yes it may be hard to watch. It's also very informative into how women deal with past relationships

I couldn't watch this
marthinusbosman20 August 2018
I created an account just to make this comment. I've seen some dark and disturbing things on the internet, and have prided myself on not being phased by any of it, but this damn episode. I literally had to stop watching just to calm down. I'm not sure if I'm angry, frustrated, scared or just horribly annoyed. To the makers of this, damn you for making this. To potential viewers, be warned. I still get anxious just by remembering that I watched this. Hopefully after this I can forget I ever saw this.

Very Rape-y. Viewer Beware...
lwat12320 July 2017
I watched the end of episode 4 in total disgusted. She was clearly trying to get away and he kept going at her, even at the end, leaving without a trace. Absolutely echoing rape culture. It's a shame because I loved that the episode featured a diverse case, speaking their native language... totally disappointed it ended that way.

Pushing the envelope ??
rasikararaja9 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The ending is unclear and is left to the viewers. 2 possibilities, the wife gets pregnant after having sex with her ex or the couple continue to try to conceive. If it is former, would the wife reveal who the father is to her husband or keeps her husband in the dark. The real victim is of course the husband who has been faithful(at least from what we see) and really loves his wife.

Why am I still watching this show?
bobbyogs22 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was alright in the beginning but by the end I could barely watch it. The tone of the episode totally switched about half-way through and became pretty dark. In my opinion, the scene after they left the bar was super rape-y and uncalled for. I'm not denying that these types of things happen in real life, but I don't think that type of thing should be in this type of series. Maybe I misunderstood the point of the series but it's unbelievable to me it's advertised as a comedy.

Rape Scenes
cackin-9375126 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
You can't tell me there weren't knives in that kitchen! Glorifies women and rape. I enjoyed the first 3 episodes, but this one absolutely reeked of misplaced sexuality and male dominance taken to an extreme. This was forced. I kept asking myself was she too drunk to know she was being raped or not?! Who the hell grabs a glass of water to put on a windowsill in the middle of being raped?! Very poor writing and directing. That is 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back. This is what's wrong with our society today. No one knows where to draw the line anymore between aberrant and normal behavior.

Sick... (and normalizing rape culture)
jdpeasnall26 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Basically you watch the main female (of course) character get casually raped at the end. There was no warning for this episode and I felt too sick to continue watching the last 5 minutes. I specifically do not watch shows with sexual violence because it is extremely triggering for me (and for so many others!!) and yet I felt like I was forced to witness this scene since there was no indication there would be graphic sexual assault in this episode or in the show. This episode made me reflect on the show as a whole, and while there are a *couple* episodes I enjoyed thus far, there are some very serious and deep-seated issues with this show. Yes, we already understand gender roles and patriarchy... I mean we live in one for goodness sakes. Yes, we understand rape culture... many of us women are impacted by it first hand. But to be portrayed in the show with no explanation or no further development or analysis? I mean are you freaking serious? Wtf is this show about? It is certainly not a social commentary, because this is what women experience regularly and it seems as if this SHOW is gaslighting women's experiences and normalizing what already occurs in society. It's certainly not "art" and it's certainly not doing anything positive. Instead of highlighting issues, it seems to just normalize them.

Watching a woman getting raped with no warning beforehand has turned me off of this show. I am angered and disgusted and wish I could do so much more than write a review. If you are like me or if you do not want to watch women getting raped, do NOT watch this show.. or at least not this specific episode.

Hated Controlada! Warning: Spoilers
I just started watching Easy because the new season came out. The first three episodes were eh OK, but unremarkable. This one on the other hand was frankly unwatchable. First, unless you understand Spanish, you have to read the captions. Which means you miss facial expressions and other nuances in the frame. I hate captioned movies. Second, her ex, Martin rapes her. He would say she was a willing partner just reluctant, but that was rape.

Yes this is disturbing
sauravjoshi8516 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is the most disturbing and confusing episode of the series which leaves a lots of unanswered questions.

1. Why a husband allows his wife on a city tour with her ex? 2. Why a husband leaves his wife on the mercy of someone he doesn't like? 3. What is the conclusion of the episode? 4. Didn't director in some manner justifying rape?

The episode is nice in terms of acting and execution but somewhat disturbs

Needs Trigger Warning
ashlimathis17 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode absolutely needs a trigger warning. The rape scene is very graphic and disturbing. It deeply upset me. Imagine those who have experienced sexual assault watching this. The main issue here is that this show is labeled a comedy. The first 3 episodes were heartwarming and relatively light. I just feel like there should have been some type of warning. I honestly wish I never watched this episode.

Pure comedy
shefchenko4 November 2020
First of all, why it had to be in Spanish??!? Second - wasn't this supposed to be funny? It's a comedy, you know... This episode is in my list of worst things I ever saw. When the label says "comedy" I expect funny, sorry.

Worst episode I've ever watched
dannyr19783 January 2023
I started following the series having into account the first three episodes were fairly good. But this episode 4 "Controlada" is pretty much the worst I've watched. I'm giving the series a second chance and continued with the 5th episode though. I couldn't believe how bad the cast was. Those guys were terrible performers I don't even want to use the word actors for obvious reasons. I also wonder what was going on in the director's mind. How could he be happy or satisfied with that? On the bright side though, from now on when asked what the worst thing I've ever watched is; there's no doubt in my mind what my response will be, freaking S1E4 of "Easy"In conclusion, terrible episode.
