Warning: Spoilers
The story here is great; the transition from season 3 to season 4 has been packed with action, plot hooks and twists and what have ya to make it extremely exciting. It has picked up the pace again after revealing that Elizabeth was still alive.

I am however extremely conflicted about one thing; the shooting of Mr. Kaplan. Reddington's behavior has changed a few times over the course of the past 10 episodes, and while fitting in most cases, I think his response to Kate's action is too much. The saving grace for his actions here is that Kate's plan backfired and as such he has a reason to be mad, but surely he must understand her rationale.

Shooting her was an extreme I did not expect. I did not like the fact that he did, and would rather have seen him let her live out her days in peace as he told in his monologue. I get that she knows everything about him, but I think killing her was not needed as she was clearly not on the wrong foot with him personally, and still acted in Liz' best interest.

On the other hand, it did bring us an amazing season worth of interesting conflict between the two, as she is shown to be alive (and will come back as antagonist in this season). Something good comes from it after all, but I liked Mr. Kaplan and will miss her as Raymond's right hand.

Never mind an APB, Red has an APD

Warning: Spoilers
That's an Antisocial Personality Disorder, the overarching term for both psychopathy and sociopathy. At various times he displays characteristics of both. In the latter half of Season 3 and now in Season 4, his body count has taken a sharp upward trend. Whilst he sometimes shows emotion, remorse is not his default setting. James Spader is great, but Red is becoming less charming and more harming. Not sure I like this direction. And like many others, I do feel the Liz-Tom-Agnes story arc is dragging on a bit.

Mind your own business

Warning: Spoilers
The blacklist is keep getting better and better. I'm sure most of you don't like the chase for Agnes and elizabeth too but when it starts to get a little annoying , there will be always something to show you how awesome this show is. After 3 seasons of watching Red as a protector of keen , now he is on the edge of looking like the actual villain here . and they justified that in a very accurate way . from the summer palace and proving kirk correct to shooting Mr.Kaplan which was very surprising and daring by writers.

lesson of the day Mind your own god damn business nothing good ever come for you by choosing what's best for the others.

Throwing the viewer under the bus... ouch

Warning: Spoilers
Short review: between contract issues with Boone, ratings issues with NBC, and time issues with Bokenkamp (his new show is demanding) someone has been making script decisions here which will ultimately kill the show.

Longer review: If you are too close to something you lose perspective. Over 3 seasons this once-great show had made Red, an international criminal, a empathetic character. Now, to goose ratings, we not only have a chase sequence involving a baby which must have looked great on paper (but sucks in real life), plus enough assorted torture scenes to make a torture porn film, but also this episode ended with Red doing something 100% contrary to the image they worked 3 seasons to build...? The beginning of the end for the show.

Really bad story telling
kqawfh5 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After numerous illogical turns of events and completely incomprehensible decisions of the acting characters in the series, this was the most terrible episode so far. I'm seriously considering doing this to myself. The misery was already dragging on over the past episodes: A father seeks contact with his daughter, who doesn't know him. Of course, it's a great idea to have the wedding with an army stormed, kidnap the bride and kill everyone present, including the daughter's husband. These are confidence-building measures. The daughter will immediately take the previously unknown father into her heart. But wait, after this bride brings the plane in which she is later hijacked to a crash on the open sea, she really trusts him. How crazy is that?

Meanwhile Reddington tortures and kills himself together with the primary school teacher, enemy agent, ship captain, friendly agent, enemy, father, husband Tom Keen cheerfully through his closest allies and other collateral damage.

It's really bad story telling.

Sociopath!

Warning: Spoilers
I've always been angered by those who judged Reddington when he held information that they could not have understood. This episode shows him to be an unforgiving, murderous man. When he kills Kate, he shows that there is no reclamation for him. Yes, it's an example of what he is and has been. He tells her he can never trust her again, ever! He finds Liz and doesn't even talk to her while her captors get away. He gains information along with Tom by torturing another human being. How shallow are his statements about someone deciding what is right for him. He does that about six times an episode. It will be interesting to see if there is anything in him that could make one see him as anything but a vicious beast.
