Experience and the art of political become the main focus here.

What is to be with Aaron? His temporary leave of absence becomes a full-blown resignation despite Kirkman wanting him back. It's the old political consideration. Aaron's leave and being questioned by the FBI makes him and the president look vulnerable. Thinking realistically, Aaron had no other alternative.

Agent Welles gains more trust from the president as she is to report now directly to him.

Calling on the former president for advice really seems to pan out so far. Swift intervention of American forces in that impoverished African nation shows that Kirkman has the ability to lead. Offering the secretary of state position to the former president is political brilliance. Even if he wavered in his decision, Kirkman is telling Moss that the country needs him now. Experience is always the best teacher.

Kirkman and Moss show mutual respect for one another. Meanwhile Aaron's future lies in the balance. Langdon presents evidence of his involvement in the horrific explosion at the Capitol. Kirkman is coming to realize that this is the loneliest job in the world where a single man must make decisions about the lives of hundreds of thousands. Moss is allowing an underpinning of strength.

Seeing this episode for the nteenth time it makes me so sad that he's no longer with us. Designated survivor would not have been the same without him. He was part of the glue that kept things together, along with italia Ricci and kal. Watching him again in this episode is both sad and a legacy to his contribution to this series. A standup guy even when losing his post as chief of staff. I love this episode and will forever remember his contribution to this series. Especially the first season which is such a winner in my book.

This episode continues the suspense and really makes you look forward to the next episode which is a killer.
