This was the only episode in 12 seasons in which the writers didn't blame the parents for the evil adult killers' behavior.

Decent, not Season 12 or 'Criminal Minds' at their best
TheLittleSongbird9 June 2017
In its prime (Seasons 1-5, with Season 4 to me being the best and most consistent season with a lot of classic episodes and even the weakest episodes being far from awful) 'Criminal Minds' was one of my favourite shows. From Season 6 it did become hit and miss, with the odd gem, but a lot of average episodes and some stinkers.
Season 12 so far has been nowhere near as bad as feared, all things considered with its significant changes and troubled behind the scenes. Nothing exceptional yet but no low-points either. "Seek and Destroy" is a decent middling but not Season 12 or 'Criminal Minds' at their best, nor at their worst. It's not "Elliot's Pond" or "Mirror Image" but it is "Taboo" and "The Anti-Terror Squad", the only disappointments so far of the season.
The episode isn't perfect. This may seem like nit-picking to some, but Reid's absence once again is immediately noted and he is sorely missed, while the reason does give him some character development that allows us to feel sympathy for him "Seek and Destroy" would have fared better with his involvement. A good example of the lack of such a great character can bring an episode down. The new character of Walker, apart from a nice change between him and Prentiss, is still bland and not that well developed, and he's not gelling with the team yet.
While chillingly played, Zeke's behaviour towards Bethany seemed a little confusing and him being manipulated didn't ring true. Things could have been better explained and there could have been more little character moments within the team and maybe could have made references to previous episodes for continuity's sake.
However the supporting characters are well realised and characterised, Bethany and Zeke are at times chillingly nihilistic and Kay and Michael are suitably sympathetic. The twist involving Bethany was truly shocking and pretty powerful.
All the acting is very good, all the way down from lead to supporting. "Seek and Destroy" is very well shot and lit and is overall stylish, gritty, classy and atmospheric. The music is moody in the haunting and melancholic sense and fits well, without either enhancing or distracting from it. Direction is also good.
By admission the story is familiar and not much new but has good atmosphere and the twists are well done.
Overall, decent if middling. 6/10 Bethany Cox

This episode of criminal minds seek and destroy is a pretty good episode the first of season 12 party episodes there might be more in the near future but right now more in to the episode The opening is good nether the less the rest of the episode follows through about a group of a gang which burglarize and Rob and kill there victims if you will the plot goes with the opening sequence and melts with the whole rest of the episode digging deeper in to the core of what is happening very good acting I would say the title seek and destroy would count with the episode for the title besides the fact it relates to ones mission but in this case since it's centered around a young group and the fact they take what they want carelessly party there brains out Until there ready for later it also includes the drugs why else would young adolescents party as if people did not know that but the writer Erik did and this prevails the episode to pass and be a good episode with it's rich plot Now on to the casting yes one crucial detail the casting was not bad and I say it because it was but the cast members could be just a little bit better there roles however were great which I mean the characters
