The Secrets Have Secrets

It isn't a week of superhero television without being overwhelmed and confused by another Legion episode. I usually pride myself in figuring out twists and mysteries before they happen, but I can't seem to get a grip on Legion, and the direction it's heading.

On one hand, the show continues to be entertaining and vastly different than anything else on TV. But I also want to caution that myself proclaiming the series' uniqueness shouldn't give the series a pass. I still need to see an actual direction for these characters and the show overall. Just because it does things differently, doesn't mean it's always good. Everything I've seen so far shows promise and is one-hundred percent intriguing, but that's about it.

So Team Legion (that's what I'll call them for now) is set on figuring out the ways David's mind works. Having to suppress his abilities a bit, David ends up having more trouble than initially thought to reach past memories. His sister is still kidnapped and the people who accompanies him on these memory trips are still in the dark about the lengths at which he can use his powers. How exactly is this different than last week's episode? I'm not sure it is. The entire episode is structured in the Inception-like dream/memory world inside David's mind. And really, that's where we stay until the credits roll. I would just like to see some more developments occur in those memories.

The imagery stays creepy, something the show never fails to do, but the characters (including David) don't make any real progress. Hopefully, by the time the 8th episode rolls around we have a clearer indication as to how everything works. I guess my disappointment lies in the fact that it doesn't feel like any answers are coming soon. The show-runners are having fun building secrecy for every character and every plot line. Sooner or later things are going to have to pick up.

One of the best episodes in TV

I'm normally a person that hates horror and scary imagery. I hate jump scares and unnecessary tension. I loved this. I don't think I've ever been so scared watching any TV show. It wasn't supposed to be scary, I wanted to look away so bad. Yet I watched it. It was amazing.

I loved this episode. Maybe I'll skip the scary scenes it when I watch it again. But it was a masterpiece.
