Very good script, but poor production.

What to start with? It has 55 episodes, but it could have been reduced to a maximum of 30/35. Although I like fantasy series, here everything was too much. The basic story is captivating, but the series was filled with all sorts of useless moments. The acting was a bit forced, in some cases. All in all, it's not a bad series, it's just inexplicably long and too full of unnecessary moments.

It's good but not perfect

Warning: Spoilers
I have watched both seasons of Noble Aspirations, and this is what I think. Wuxia is a genre that has been done, over and over again -- it's hard to be original with a concept, which is known to be clichéd. Good verses evil. The good guys are bad. The bad guys are good. It's highly prevalent in superhero films, what makes this series distinct from others, is how it incorporates Chinese culture into the narrative.

CGi is a wonderful tool. It can enhance the quality of a TV show, however if poorly done -- then it can wreck a decent series completely. I wish the CGI was saved, for key moments in the drama. The fantasy elements are meant to encompass the show in a positive way, that's what it is about but...often, the CGI seems kind of sloppy and not well done.

I watched Legend of Chusen for its cast. Zhao Li Ying has had one hell of a year, and she has been in many projects. I wasn't convinced that she was Li Yi Feng's love interest. She has better chemistry with William Chan. However, the acting in this drama is phenomenal. The show deals with the theme of morality, and righteousness. The struggles of humanity are what makes us human.

Many can criticize Zhang Xiao Fan for being stupid and naive, but this is how his character is written. What annoyed me the most about Season 2 of Noble Aspirations is, the drama builds up the suspense for the female lead to be resurrected, but she doesn't even wake up. Season 2 shows massive character development, but it's not mind-blowing.

I could ramble on for paragraphs, about every little thing in this show but I won't. I like the overall image, the plot and the cinematography is brilliant. Noble Aspirations has the potential to be better, but I feel like -- the director isn't focusing on the bigger picture. There are many characters who I don't personally care about, and I wish they contributed a greater amount.

Overall
csizmadia_renata19 April 2020
The story is about a loser boy who can't perform anything, his character is not developing anywhere. I watched 10 episodes and it is boring as they don't show any progress with the main characters they are just becoming better and better but nobody knows how. The story is extremely dragging no twists or surprises, no jokes whatsoever. Maybe by episode 50 it becomes more exciting but i won't spend more time to wait for that!

The drama is interesting, it was a bit boring at the first one 10 episode but later impressed me. The Story was good, the acting was excellent, very hilarious plus action, if you can calm down and watch it to the end, I promise you that you will enjoy it

Excellent season 1, boring season 2!

I watched the first season without knowing anything about the plot let alone the actors involved in it. The first season is brilliant with lots of humour, adventure, magic, cutting edge technology for those times, herbal medicine and poison spirits and so forth. For those who are not acquainted with Chinese historical dramas, there are basically two types called wuxia and xianxia. Wuxia is about martial art heroes while xianxia is about immortal heroes namely fantasy historical dramas. The xianxia genre is based primarily on Taoism and sometimes Buddhism as well. Generally speaking, there are three realms: the demon realm, the mortal realm and the immortal realm (Heaven). Every realm have different categories but don't be fooled by origins because not all demons are bad and not all immortals are good. Humans in the mortal realm can decide to become immortals by joining a sect and practising cultivating immortality. In Noble Aspirations (The Legend of Chusen) two boy children are given to a sect of immortals after every single person in their village mysteriously get brutally slaughtered. The entire first season is about a group of youngster who have to go down the mountain for the first time to gain experience in the mortal realm. It's a wonderful adventure with magic everywhere, mystery, unlike alliances, romance and martial arts. I strongly recommend the first season if you are into fantasy adventure shows. However , the second season is completely disappointing !
