An interesting one. "Excess Animus" moves the sci find element of the story forward, and Juliana. Juliana's story is what's been lacking this season, which you'd have thought would sink it but as there are several other excellent plots involving other characters it's not as big a problem as you'd expect. Still, Juliana's story does get the push it needs. We actually have a better idea of her intentions now, although it has taken a long time to get to that point. And it's quite affecting seeing the three reunited. Alternative timelines also consume Tagomi's and Kido's scenes, with Kido finally being told what's going on. John Smith is also preoccupied with the films' contents, as well as seeing hundreds of bodies in a vision that hints he isn't free of guilt.
The episode leaps into pseudoscience when Juliana starts using language about balance and death. It doesn't make much sense and I don't know how she would just "know" something like that. Still, this episode is full of great moments, including Juliana and Frank's "pretend just for tonight". 8.1/10
