Quite entertaining and good ending
kenord24 January 2018
I enjoyed this. The acting was good if a little stilted and think that's because the actors talked slowly, probably in order to drag it to the 30 mins short running time. I'd like to know how the effects on the watches were done, that was cool and added to the films futuristic feel whereas not much else did.

A short film that mirrors classic sci-fi short stories
vpitman118 May 2018
I came across this on Amazon Prime, and I wasn't really in the mood for a full-length film. I started to watch, and my wife was taken with the scenery and story. Like most good short stories, much is implied but left unsaid. The special effects are limited to Candra's clothes, her watch, and the transition effect. As a result, the viewer has to work out quite a few of the details for themselves. Smart story telling: we appreciate it. I enjoyed the characters, the setting, and the story. I think the pace lagged a bit in a few spots, and I would have either liked a few more details about the characters or a bit faster pacing. As it was, my wife and I both enjoyed it, and we were hoping this was a precursor to a longer story. We both agree that we would watch a longer story that goes into more depth about events before, during, and after the events in this short.

Simple, but beautiful

There's something about this short film which really captured my interest. I think, upon reflection, it is the fact that so much is left unsaid -- only the bare bones are supplied, and we have to imagine a great deal. For me, that works very well.

I have the thought that this film might be the sort of escape fantasy many teenagers might yearn for, stuck as many are in lives which seem bereft of hope.

The actors are excellent, and though the story does not surprise overmuch, it is still executed very well. Creating a sci-fi film in such a prosaic location particularly impressed me; more special effects would have spoiled the matter-of-fact environment in which the events take place.

In short, I loved it, and I will go back to it again whilst it is on Amazon Prime.

as real as life

This brilliantly done movie speaks to that truth to which many people balk, unfortunately. I know this seems strange but I believe the time will come when the opportunity to do as these characters did will come to those that believe in, and love, and follow the true creator of this world and other worlds without measure. Love and faith are the moving power of the universe and this movie told that story very well indeed. Time is relative and Mortality is only a brief sojourn in the Eternities. Thank you to every person that had a part in making this movie. I loved it.

What film was everyone else watching?

Warning: Spoilers
The story itself is decent but, I hardly call it a love story because the two characters hardly know each other long enough. When did they fall in love? Was it while shooting targets at the arcade or over fish and chips later that day? Ethan Taylor is excellent despite the flat performance given by Grace St Hill attempting an American accent. In fact, I nearly turned it off until she slipped into her native accent.

There is an editing error when Candra is seen crying at one point, her eyes dry and makeup (why is an alien wearing makeup?) slightly smeared, when we cut to Jack then back again to see her eyes drenched with full raccoon rings.

I saw the other reviews including one that called this a "perfect" short. I just don't see it. Beautiful scenery, pretty costumes, good music, and zero chemistry between the actors in the first 15 minutes of a 25 minute film do not equal "perfect" and they certainly do not earn the 10 stars most reviewers gave. This film needed another 30 minutes to sell me on giving more than four stars.

A nearly perfect short film
rico-1627728 April 2018
A tender love story on the edges of the world. This is what movies are about, for me. The visuals, music, acting, writing, direction came together as an ensemble meditation on love and change. The ocean encourages me, maybe others, to dream.

Aptly titled
Snootz8 December 2017
At the time of this writing, there is no option for rating. I'd give this about a 4.5. It's not a bad film, just somewhat pointless. No story to speak of, no special effects, decent acting but that's about all it's got going for it. Very slow, no real high points. I find myself regularly mentioning in reviews of shorts: SCRIPT people... script. Tell a story. Otherwise, don't bother.

Sweet Sublime Simplicity
compugor6 July 2019
Gripping from the very start, without any extravagant effects or storyline. Excellent acting, directing and screenplay with no frills, maintaing a consistently calm and pleasant atmosphere yet with stimulating unknowns gradually revealed. Develops to become fun and endearing; wish it was longer. The lead female was very easy to look at so to speak, and brought out the character leaving no room for eye-rolling at the premise. The male companion's character was also delivered excellently so that the chemistry between the two was perfect. An immersive fantasy experience with a delightful ending. Hat tip to the use of a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connetion. Bravo!

For the hopeless romantic
racertx24 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I like the good alien twist. I've sen far too many hideous aliens coming to enslave, plunder our resources or just wreak havoc, okay maybe not too many but it's over done and what can I say, I like to believe that there are good decent people out there just willing to help at their own peril and in my opinion there is more likely to be a friendly alien race like ours than there are decent people left in the world but anythings possible. So what did I think? I thought enough of this short piece that this is my first ever review. So in short, worth watching, believable chemistry between the two main characters, Don was what I'd imagine he'd be and contributed to the tension and also to the end result. A smile on my face at the end and a warm feeling in my heart, what more can anyone ask for? In addition I liked the costume design that put her a bit out of place and time/period? Plus she's quite easy on the eye's and her subtle features would make any man envious to be in his place let alone get to travel to another planet with her. I just thought this deserved an every mans point of view rather than the pro critic/reviewer who did point out some short comings, no pun intended, but I think missed the mark just a little.

Love look at the two of us - The Carpenters
Bernie444412 December 2023
Let's take a lifetime to say I knew you well For only time will tell us so And love may grow For all, we know

------------ A girl in transit wakes up on the beach. While waiting for her parents she strikes up a conversation with a passing boy. The casual encounter becomes more intense as they search for her parents together.

----------

This short is very well composed. If the presentation had been any longer it would have had to have unnecessary fillers, more red herrings, slower music, and we could easily have been bored before it reached the end.

All the actors were excellent in their parts, and you felt like you were one of them.

Director: David Stuart-Snell (as Dave Snell) Writer: David Stuart-Snell (as Dave Snell) Stars: Grace St Hill, Karl Jenkinson, Ethan Taylor.

Liked this short film a lot. Story was enjoyable and reminds me of childhood days spent in Britain's beaches.

A very nice 30 minute love story!
john-7774517 April 2018
I think they could do a better job with the log line. It's really a very touching love story and I'm amazed at how much they could develop in that short time. The sound track is great and the actors are perfect. Watch it with a friend!
