Being Canadian myself, I was not expecting much from this small-scale film and I have to say, I wasn't very disappointed. The acting is ok, with some exceptions, the cinematography is unremarkable and the plot simple but effective. The script is the worst part though, filling the movie with lame jokes, cheap characterizations and apparently forgetting that there needs to be conflict for there to be stakes by the end.
But can I really be so harsh? I"ve seen much worse movies from more well-known filmmakers. As much as I can bash the script, directorial choices and set design, the film succeeds in what it sets out to be, in spite of paling in comparison to more expensive fare.
