Terrible subtitles
laduqesa18 April 2023
The translation of the hardcoded subtitles was dreadful. I think they must have been done by a native Swedish speaker who had good English. The rejection letter was particularly bad, "Sorry but you're not one of the people we should like to meet" is a direct translation of how it would be said in Swedish. It should have been rendered as, "Sorry, but we shan't be calling you for an interview on this occasion". There weren't any other howlers as bad as that, but the subtitles were clunky and didn't flow, making it difficult to get into the rhythm of the film.

So, we have three losers in a dying hick town somewhere in Sweden, one of whom has something big to hide. They get drunk and run an illegal drinks business. There's no future if they don't get out. And no freedom to be one's own self either.

It's a theme that's been done to death elsewhere but the acting and dialogue here weren't good enough to raise this above the point of being mildly interesting.

a film about image. and about the secrets behind it. about friendship. and its fragile limit. about a young man looking for be more than seems be. and a decision. the only who could be reasonable. good acting, good script. the trip in a small world who has the every trait for define a form of ordinary life style of at a loose end young people. forms of cruelty and superficiality. hopes about future. and fears. an inspired performance from Navid Ghaffarpour.
