Paula Newsome and Sarah Goldberg crush it in this episode! Fantastic performances from the entire cast, Winkler, Hader, Root, pure gold.

Breaking Bad meets Dexter meets Community.
TheFirst016 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Breaking Bad because everyone slowly gets involved in Barry's life just like with Walter White, and Dexter with the double life as a killer. Community because it's hilarious and this show's couple reminds me of the main awkward couple from Community. 'm really loving this show and it makes me sad seeing the low ratings. I guess as someone who loves acting this show was on the tip of the iceberg for me.

The Good Place

Warning: Spoilers
Maggie Carey directed this episode, and Barry is really finding its groove. There's always much warmth when D'Arcy Carden appears, even briefly, because of course I warm to her because of her role as Janet in The Good Place of course.

Warning: Spoilers
1. Barry gets destroyed 2. Sally is struggling 3. Gene goes on a date with Janice

Solid episode. Less comedy but lots of drama building up. Barry has a conflict with Fuches, who seemed to be easygoing but is in fact quite controlling and manipulative. Barry wants to stand up for himself, as Gene taught him, but he's bound by Fuches because he could expose Barry. He also has a conflict with Sally because he misunderstands their relationship, which tells the audience that he's socially inept at times. But Barry seems to be a completely different person when he's with his military people. With filthy language, he interacts with them in a way that is not timid and asserts himself in a way. Finally, the show ends with setting up more major conflicts as one of his military friend wanted to join in for the raid, which terrifies Barry because he is stuck with his contract.

This episode while furthering the conflict, manages to incorporate pretty good comedy into it as well. Gene was a highlight as we see him going to auditions and trying to impress Janice on a makeshift date. He is very authoritative in his class but he's not much outside of him. The irony in that is hilarious and I love his character. Sally gets it rough with how her so-called agent is treating her and she breaks down. She is having it rough and I can't imagine what that life must be like. So far, basically nothing to criticize. The drama, comedy, performance, writing, and characters all flawless. I'm not giving it a 10 because those episodes have to wow me. It's really excellent but hasn't wowed me yet.

Episode Four [8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Barry Season 1 Episode 4 ''Chapter Four: Commit... to You'' (S1. E4): Episode 3 was good and i gave it a rating of 8/10. So Barry doesn't wanna kill the rest of the bad guys? He is taking the whole acting thing pretty seriously. I wouldnt expect Barry to be the kind of guy who gets really jealous about people talking to his ''girlfriend''. I think Cousineau is pretty funny, the way he approached the police woman is pretty funny. They finally unlock the camera but the footage is kind of useless because they cant see Barry's face, that's good for Barry. I like Barry's outfit too, it has a very hipster kind of vibe. Overall a pretty sweet episode, my rating is 8/10.

Chapter Four
bobcobb30126 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Henry Winkler's Gene character continues to be among TV's best, but right now I don't know where they're going with this. It seems like each scene is either Barry as a hapless idiot or he is killing someone as a hitman.

There's no character development and no real reason for viewers to keep watching.
