An enjoyable soundtrack clip
Rodrigo_Amaro16 August 2017
A potent and meaningful song used in Martin Scorsese's classic "he Color of Money" (1986) and also appears in the album "August", which revitalized Eric Clapton's career after a bad phase in the late 1970's and early 1980's, gained a clip worthy of view and praise despite the usual soundtrack concept where excerpts from the movie are presented along with images of the musician performing the "unofficial" theme song...but it's hard not hear it and don't think about the film.

Concept is simple and safe and imitated in several other future videos: Clapton performs the song on this dark platform while the images cut back and forth presenting the stars of "The Color of Money" in their most enthusiastic and best moments, so there you have Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and the pool game (main topic of the film), which the clip's audio allows us to hear the balls sound in between parts of the song.

Back then, truly effective soundtrack clips were in its infancy days, very few were remarkable and only in the 1990's that the game changed for good with musicians interacting with the film's stars or even more creative concepts; but this one is one of the most interesting from its period and if the images aren't so appealing, at least we have Clapton in one of his best moments, top form and very passionate with such a composition - great lyrics and nice guitar solos at its conclusion. Positively enjoyable. 9/10
