Slow but Fun

Warning: Spoilers
A fun (albeit a bit pedestrian) episode that centers on solving the mystery of a man poisoned by a "special" bottle of wine that he opens at his son's wedding reception. There is plenty of wonderful interplay between George and Brackenridge as well as between Watts and Murdoch - all of which are the primary reasons for the positive rating - as business gets back to normal at Station 4. Murdoch has another go at being under the influence (the most notable last time being his experimentation with "the green fairy" with Julia) and learns to appreciate MANY varieties of wines, much to Julia's delight, but all in the name of the investigation. The visual gimmick of allowing us to see the world through Murdoch's eyes is used in this episode (so it appears we may see it all season), and the modern-science investigation is a bit light, but it is a compact little mystery with a satisfying conclusion. We also bid an apparent goodbye to Rebecca this episode as she and her beau head off to where she can doctor the living, which is unfortunate but not a huge loss as her character was sadly underwritten - if she is brought back for a visit in the future, it can only be hoped that they give her a bit more depth and complexity.

Love the early "inventions"

Warning: Spoilers
This episode had a groaner, we both loved it. Watch for the phrase spoken by Brekenreid about half way through... The name of the critical murder device. We said it as the sketch went on the board to be echoed by him seconds later
