Niklaus & Elijah...its been a glorious ride
madhursawhney5 August 2018
I don't know what is wrong with people. The originals gets the perfect ending unlike tvd. Elijah & Klaus deserves to rule new orleans by being with at each others side & die too.No matters what happen both of them stood by each other & No one can destroys what they had. This kind of brothers we wished for in real life. I m really going to miss originals and no spin off can take place of the originals. Always & Forever

Okay I'd give the episode a 7.5/10 , but people here are just mad

Really, you're sad niklaus died and that's why you hate the episode. That's dumb

Pretty well thought and pulled off, but it's just that Elijas curve at the end felt a little rushed, it felt rushed curve wise

They had to die, they were not good people people. They were grey charachters and that's how you do justice to a show. I still believe Niklaus and Elijah should've achieved something before dying tho.

The OG

Oh Julie Plec... this season had so much potential and there were only 13 episodes for crying out loud. How hard must it have been to write thirteen episodes?? I have and always will be a fan of the show, but I hate to have seen such a poorly end to a magnificent show. Nonetheless, watch the episode and witness Julie Plec's version of the end. We can all dream about how we would have rather seen it end, in our minds. RIP to the Originals. (Still a 10/10 show)

For me the perfect ending
juudleuveld-583921 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I never write reviews, but because of bad reviews I think I have to. Just want to say, it's a mature ending maybe not the one you all been expecting with a good/bad epic battle, but one that deserves far more credits then it gets! Always and forever. Loved it!

Never cried so much to and ending of a series than these last 2 episodes I guess I'm really a fan of klaus. Just watching him grow but still keeping his same aggression. It was a bitter sweet ending, elijah felt like he served nic to the fullest and being the good man and brother he is he didn't want him to feel alone. If you guys don't understand that then idk what! It was touching & necessary.

Always and Forever

Heartbreak, travesty, & yet hope. What an incredible, bittersweet series finale for one of the best shows on television. 5x13 features some HUGE deaths that leave you an emotional wreck even if you thought you were prepared. Going to miss seeing the Mikaelson family on my tv every week..

10/10 series finale.

Elijah's part was demolished abruptly
zerinchowdhuryamy29 June 2021
Every one said their good bye. Some r making family planning in the meantime their brothers sacrifice.

& They seriously seriously cud end it little bit more specifically by reuniting Heyley & Elijah dancing in a soft song along with Klaus & Cami sitting on a bench... See I have given a better ending then Julie plec... Wouldn't you agree?

Perfect ending
Trixie_reviews7 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I know some people don't think this way, but I believe the ending was perfect. Klaus and Elijah dying side by side was both beautiful and heartbreaking. I loved this episode because it tied loose ends, gave us hope for other characters and most of all, showed how much they've all evolved. Klaus especially.

I know some people say they should've let Elijah take the magic all on himself and die alone, so Hope could have a father. Although I somewhat agree with this, I also believe that the selfless act from Klaus shows how much he has changed and that honorable death was something that I was very happy he got to have. Much better than averting to his old ways, and becoming a monster once again. This way he gets to be remembered as a man who, in the end, did what was right.

SMH

This was a beautiful and tragic ending.

I don't even have words......

It'll probably be a couple of years before I rewards this series cause I can't handle the emotional rollercoaster. Plus it'll be hard to when this ending is one that will stick in my memory for a while. I was soooo moved....

I remember hearing that this series was better than The Vampire Diaries and it totally is. The story plots were more complex, the atmosphere was incredible but most importantly the characters were complex and incredibly grey. I loved all the characters but my favourite was Elijah. He is one of the most complex characters I've ever seen on tv and Daniel Gillies played the hell out of that character. Bravo.

*Slow Clap*

*Standing ovation *

I might need to take a break before jumping into Legacies.

This show was so worth my time. Fantastic.

Exponentially better than TVD
kiwidoc712 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I was really disappointed in the ending of TVD, which felt rushed and not true to the characters as they'd developed across the series. This was completely different. While sad (I spent the whole of the last couple of episodes hoping they'd find a way around Klaus' death) it was absolutely true to the characters - Elijah and Klaus had, despite their differences, always been there for each other when it came down to it, and it seemed fitting they should be there for each other in the end. That there were happy endings for some of the family - particularly Freya and Rebecca - seemed to balance things out. I'd have liked the chance of cameos from Klaus in particular in Legacies (which I'll give a chance), but for good or ill, he has led his family through millennia, and in some ways it would be a shame to have his character 'fade away'. The previous episode held out the hope that Elijah might yet be reunited with the love of his life, Haley, in death - perhaps a fitting reward for his family loyalty. All in all a satisfying end for the series.

And there's that,, the last of the Originals,, the last of the Mikaelson "brothers".
Aktham_Tashtush2 August 2018
Awh ,, what an ending ,, what an emotional final scene !!! The show have come to an end,, and just unexpected one ,, i just kept on hanging for hope that maybe things will go "happily ever after" for everyone ,, but nope ..

The show this season was fast, short and honestly wasn't in the same level as the last four seasons ,, but still losing so many "main" characters gave the episodes a sense of sadness that it all will come to an end.

The finale was good ,, the final scene was just awful "meaning it was just filled with sadness and emotional brotherly connection ,,Klaus and Elijah are just one of the most underrated characters on TV ,, i mean since their first appearance on The Vampire Diaries, to me , they appeared the coolest and the classiest of all the blood suckers , why not and they are the first ones.

anyway,, the final scene shows there will not be any more Mikaelsons ,, unless "like we've seen before" Magic interferes ,, but no .. after all,, giving a closure was the best thing they did this season ,,

And they'll be remembered .. Always and forever.

Seriously people?
aarongnr1 November 2018
First of all, I thought the finale was ok, it was touching, but not all of it was as good as it couldve been. But to all those writing "not watching legacies, to punish the showrunners and the writers". Are you freakin serious? Theyve given us 5 seasons of one of the best fantasy drama in any tv series ever and you seriously wont give Legacies a chance because of 1 decent episode? Thats dumb to say tge least.

MAKES NO SENSE. Absolutely HORRIBLE ENDING!!!

Warning: Spoilers
WTF! Seriously!!! Makes no sense. Why not just kill Elijah. I love Elijah but at least Hope could have a dad. But...there the Originals!!! Why did any of them have to die. The series finale of Charmed was amazing. One last great battle to destroy the darkness. I can't even write anymore I'm so disappointed. I watched this show from the start and what a great, horrible disappointment!!!

Dragonscouter29 November 2018
I've watched the originals while watching the vampire diaries and grew older with them, the vampire diaries ending was good but the originals was just satisfying yet sad at the same time, left me feeling all those emotions that awaken a side of me especially the father daughter bond as well as the brother's bond.

I can't say anything but to feel the heartache and the satisfaction and to finally say goodbye.. you will always be remembered.. always.. and forever.

A true masterpiece
kikidettmering14 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Everyone who said this episode was horrible didn't seem to watch the same show I watched. It was expected that Klaus and Elijah would die together since the beginning of the show and them sacrificing their lives for Hope at the same place where they talked about Hope when she wasn't born yet is truly poetic. Rebekah being able to be with Marcel and she gets to be a human again which she always wanted but never got to be because of Klaus. Very well written and I balled my eyes out.

Forever and always

Absolutely stunning and brave...
jaymes-211-3534472 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
We finally finished watching the series so we can start watching "Legacies" and this is how you end a series! Julie Plec showed incredible creativity and bravery with the decisions she and her creative team made with how they show end the show. I must admit I had already read many of the titles of the reviews and the abysmal low ratings (but not any of the spoilers) and was having difficulty understanding how such an incredible show could end on such a bad not and so I was preparing myself for the worse. I'm absolutely and completely flummoxed by these reviews and find it difficult to understand them even taking into consideration a difference of opinion. I must admit it was difficult to watch some of our favorite "B" characters die during the 5th season and that's what made the ending so incredibly poignant and beautiful. At its essence, "The Originals" is about two brothers and their struggle to keep and maintain balance and love for each other. Thank you, Julie Plec, for showing how eternal the depth of love between two brothers can be.

Loved this ending!
henabreu1010 August 2018
This ending was better for me than The Vampire Diaries. I loved it! Really! It was so proper.. so the way it was meant to be. The Klaus ans Elijah bond was very strong, very real. I loved how everything came together. Great! I'm really going to miss it! Really nice job! Congrats!

Well we finally got there
tmh9827 April 2022
My husband and I came into this particular vampire world the wrong way. We started with two seasons of Legacies. Then I accidently stumbled upon TVD. At some point in the later seasons of that fantastic show, I learned about The Originals. So we headed there next. Just a little bit ago, we finished the finale. Now, I see ratings all over the place, but I've purposely not read any reviews yet. I wanted to get my thoughts out first. We've enjoyed all 3 series immensely. The last season of The Originals was a bit weird at times, only because we'd seen Legacies so we knew how certain story lines turned out. But no spoilers here. I will say, this family's adventures have brought out all the feels. I have never, ever cried so much about any show. Like Never. Never Ever. And I'm a retired binge watcher, so I've seen A LOT. It's weird how sometimes you can get attached to characters, and no matter how long you get to watch them, it's never enough. That's how I feel about Klaus & Elijah. Also, the core group of cast members, but I've loved both of those brothers dearly, through everything. I cried so hard throughout the last 2 episodes, I emptied out a half full tissue box. Lol My husband even stayed up way past his bedtime to finish up the last few episodes. I couldn't stand any more of the emotional rollercoaster of going to bed after a cliffhanger, the calmness of the next day, only to ramp up the emotions the next evening. I just wanted it over and done with. So we binged the last six episodes in one evening. Phew. It feels so weird to be done. All three series had a phenomenal writers. So many brilliant storylines, somehow always managing to converge into one big, meaningful plot. So impressive! So now we're headed back over to Legacies, to watch the current season. I cannot recommend these shows enough. Just be sure to watch them in the correct order.

Crying

Warning: Spoilers
I wish I could put one hundred tearful emojiis in this post. I love this show so much. I didn't care what this family did. I ride for them because they ride for each other. Nickclaus has always been my favorite because I have always understood him. Elijah has always been #2 because of his love for his little brother. He understood that Nick needed it. The whole family especially the big 3 has always been near and dear to my heart. They are ORIGINALS, so I always felt like every other vamp needed to bow down to them no matter what, forget them and feed em poop. All the other supernatural beings needed to bow to them because they were stronger, faster, and basically unkillable, but no one got that. That is why there was conflict. They were the superior beings in this world. Period. I am going to miss this show. I thought my heart couldn't break anymore when Haley died, then it broke even more when Elijah got his memories back. I thought man I was through the worse of it. Of course my two favorite characters died at the end, and I was done!. I am glad at least that, this is where it ended. It would have been cool to see where Hope's powers took her, being a vampire, werewolf, and witch. Essentially now the most powerful being on the earth.

So... the original vampires are indestructible, right? They can never die, right? Wrong! This ending is perfect because it shows that even the truly undead can actually die.

Period.

Underwhelmed.
deeptibakshi2 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I'm disappointed to say the least. I feel let down, and I feel as though this finale did zero justice to the characters, actors and story itself. All I feel after this finale is heartbreak. The thing with the Vampire Diaries finale was that it broke my heart into pieces but by the end of the episode I felt content, knowing that all my favourite characters had found peace and were reunited with their loved ones, all that. The Originals finale broke my heart but instead of being content all I feel is unsatisfied. First of all, most of the goodbyes seemed sped through and did not truly reflect the emotional connection between the characters in my opinion. Secondly, the brief appearances of both Cami and Mikael seemed forced and I didn't like how they were just randomly thrown in there? Not to mention they brought back both Cami and Mikael but couldn't think to let us see Davina one last time?? She too was a series regular for a while??? I didn't like this episode.. I feel so let down and this finale is something that sadly cannot be undone. Plec has managed to ruin what was seasons and seasons of a beautiful story.

A Perfect End to the best show on Vampire Bromance
prerna252625 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Elijah keeping his vow to the very last of his breath. Just beautifully painful ending to an amazing series. Klaus did earn the redemption his elder brother was looking for his entire life. Well written show... Brilliant performance by Daniel and Joseph... And that last scene with their immortal bodies finally turning to ash... was just as breathtaking as agonizing! True bromance indeed. Wish there were more TV shows written and delivered with such conviction.
