A big start to the third series.

Warning: Spoilers
The show has always been big, bold and daring, none more so then in this opener to the third series. Very slick indeed, well acted, beautifully shot, it's a hard hitter, seeing the demise of favourite character, Joy Freers. Alexandra Roach is definitely an actress in demand, and perhaps felt she'd gone as far as possible with this series, so luckily for her, Joy is sent packing in style.

A very relevant episode for today's day and age, where a political chasm has opened up, gun crimes are up, and racial tensions, which should be a thing of the past are sadly still a scourge.

It's always entertaining, this one has a little more. 9/10.

Episode 3.1

Warning: Spoilers
I was disappointed by the second series of No Offence. The story arc was simply not good enough.

The first episode of the third series showed promise and I expect several twists to emerge further on in the series. Creator Paul Abbott has made no secret that growing up in Burnley he knew people in his community that held racist views.

This is evident as right wing groups heckle the asian Muslim mayor of Manchester who is running for re-election. Viv knows the rival candidate, Caroline McCoy the kind of person who grew up working for the local community. However it is Caroline that is targeted by a gunman.

While fleeing the gunman shoots dead DS Joy Freers. The police suspect a race hate group Albion to be involved.

Viv and her team are in turmoil in the aftermath of Viv's death and they are determined to find her killer but police politics gets in their way.

First 2 seasons beyond brilliant, season 3 not so much

The first 2 seasons are really amazing. Intense, compelling, surprising, and truly fantastic characters and writing. Season 3 was a disappointment - scattered, not great writing or character development, etc.

Warning: Spoilers
Just like the start to last season they have a big moment early on, and an interesting premise, but we know this will get dull after awhile.

No Offence afraid to offend.

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this series until the 3rd season. Clever and sharp dialog, interesting stories and characters. Ready to offend anyone until the 3rd season where the story line turned into the usual pc bull you would get in the states, which is why I do not watch American tv. Cringe worthy stereotypical "right wingers" killing a cop? Seriously??? No offence, but pretty sure that isn't who is killing cops in England. Not exactly " torn from the headlines". Conflict between groups could have made for an interesting and more believable story.

Don't Bother....

This Season 3 is just about a total waste of your time. What started out as fresh concept of three very diverse women learning to work and trust one another in Season 1, suffered a bit in the darker, but still decent Season 2, has now turned into just another run-of-the-mill "troubled cops with good hearts" series. The plot line has been done so many times on so many other mediocre detective shows, I found myself predicting not only the story line, but the dialogue as well. Got so boring that I just stopped watching it after the third episode.

"Cotton and Guns"

As Alan Partridge once said "Manchester, cotton and guns". Kinda says it all really. Very slick and greatly acted and directed.
