It was so obvious that this was done on a shoestring budget. Sets were terrible, acting was dire, props were minimal. By the time I'd got through the film, I simply had to have a look at the IMDB page for it and I was right - only 10,000 euros had been allocated to this film.
Added to the complete implausibilty of the circumstances of the plot, these deficiencies make this a film that just can't be recommended. I mean, taking into account the utter paucity of evidence against Léon, it would have been extremely unlikely for his case to have been anywhere near to going to the parquet let alone justifying garde à vue.
None of the characters was believable, especially the cops. In fact, the star-crossed lovers were intensely irritating.
At ninety minutes I just about made it to the saccharine ending that we had known would come from the start. I have given up part of my life on this and written a review so others don't have to waste any time on it. Two stars awarded just because I struggled through to the end.
