One contestant's final question (to remain unnamed so as not to give away anything) during "Know or Go" was this (as read by Ellen): "If there are 12 inches in a foot and 3 feet in a yard, how many feet do you have?"
Answer given: "3"
This was wrong and the contestant lost their chance to try for $100,000. Ellen, of course, was being deliberately misleading. Everything she said before the actual question (before the comma) was completely irrelevant. She was looking for the answer "2". We know this because we have watched more than one episode and she does this every time. Otherwise, we would at least need to know a little bit about her personality.
It seems, however, that this particular contestant was not aware of this and was taking her question literally. And literally, the answer "3" was correct.
Furthermore, as much as I love Ellen, she was looking on incredulously, as if they were a complete idiot. Even the brother in the audience, when asked what was wrong with said contestant, shrugged and mouthed "I dunno". Shame on him.
Why should contestants be responsible for the comedic slant of Ellen's show? A hundred thousand dollars is serious money and I would sue. Simply my two cents, anyways.
