It's definitely getting better.

After two fairly slow and sedate episodes, The Cry finally seems to be opening up. The twist they've hit us with isn't the one I was expecting, but it was well delivered. It's still jumping about a bit too much to make it easy viewing, but it's an intriguing watch, and posing plenty of questions. I must now applaud Jemma Coleman, the criticisms I had earlier about her dead pan acting, were actually all part of her character. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Are they implying that Aussie detectives aren't up to much?

Clever, loaded with twists, and managing to deliver the unexpected. Who's the real monster? 8/10

Warning: Spoilers
Some strong acting here even if the story did slow a little bit, given the end of the second episode.

We did get another nice twist here at the end. While we all assumed it was the baby they were on trial for, it turns out Joanna is there for a different reason.

Yet another good episode of a really strong mini-series.

Episode 1.3

The Cry certainly seems to have pacing problems. Episode 2 ended with a twist. The night baby Noah disappeared, there was no baby in the car.

The disappearance was staged. Noah died because he had been given the wrong medicine. Alistair in order to protect Joanna has concocted a story. A high risk move.

Joanna is weak, but Alistair is making sure she sticks with their manufactured story to the police and the media. Even though some in the social media are disbelieving.

In this episode we are seeing a very manipulative side of Alistair, in his behaviour towards Joanna and his ex-wife.

There is too much padding, the plot plods on with too much talking but it does end with another twist.

We know that there is a timeline where Joanna stands trial but we assumed it was relating the death of baby Noah.

The series has another trick up its sleeve to keep the viewer hooked for the next episode.
