- TriviaJim stating that civilization began because of beer is actually pretty accurate. Beer is one of the oldest known prepared drinks in history, the earliest chemically confirmed evidence of beer being brewed dates back to around 3,500 B.C. There is also archaeological evidence (drawings and possible brewing equipment) that indicates that beer may have been brewed as early as 8,500 B.C. though this hasn't been chemically confirmed. Some of the very first civilizations even used beer as a form of currency, 5,000 years ago workers in ancient Iraq were paid with beer. Some historians believe that beer was instrumental in the formation of civilizations, in ancient Egypt workers who built the pyramids were given a daily ration of four to five liters of beer, which provided essential hydration and nutrition needed for their hard, grueling labor.

This was a well-acted episode, with interesting new characters, but beyond that, the episode falls apart. But the plot of this episode was one of the weakest of the series
Morgan wakes in Mississippi after taking shelter in a pickup truck where he encounters Wendell and Sarah. They explain that they are truck drivers who deliver supplies. Morgan worries about the friends he left behind and vows to find them. However, when he gets to a bridge, he decides to turn back. He saves Jim Bauer from Walkers and it is revealed the Wendell and Sarah tied him up and left him for dead after he refused to share his beer recipe and that they stole the truck for themselves. They ask for the location of Morgan's community in Virginia, but Morgan remains silent. En route, the truck stops and Jim accidentally knocks Morgan into the herd's path. Morgan jumps on top of a car. The trio leave him there and he manages to escape and catch up with them
They confront him about providing false directions. Morgan agrees to take them to his community if they pick up his friends in Texas. A filthy woman, Martha, listens to a radio broadcast from Morgan and talks to her Walker companion on going to Texas.
But possibly the interesting new role of this episode is the incredibly creepy and crazy lady at the end. The audience gets curious about what's going on there, and what role she plays in this whole scenario. Did she kill the previous person who ran the radio? What does she have to do with the boxes being left? Were they her scheme or someone else's that she's now using to...well, we are not sure at all what she's doing exactly. The walker she has pinned to the wall seems to maybe be the person who originally ran this outfit, is my guess. In just a few short lines, however, she conveys a lot and she certainly gets the creepy-crazy vibe out there fast. The audience is intrigued for sure.
On this episode of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, we discuss Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 11, which is titled The Code. It was written by co-showrunner and executive producer Andrew Chambliss & staff writer Alex Delyle and directed by Tara Nicole Weyr. This was a well-acted episode, with interesting new characters, but beyond that, the episode falls apart. But the plot of this episode was one of the weakest of the series, and maybe the entire franchise. How does Morgan not wake up even once while the truck he is sleeping in is being driven from Texas to Mississippi? What were these characters doing BEFORE they met Morgan? Were Sarah and Wendell driving a different truck? If they weren't transporting these boxes, how did they know all the routes? What about Jim? How was Jim going to become "rich" in the apocalypse if he never left the brewery? It goes on and on from there. Listen to the episode for more.
