A triumphant funky clip
Rodrigo_Amaro3 March 2021
The magical wonders of animation and its effects on viewers makes of "Genius of Love" a fascinating, memorable and fun music video to listen and watch. Tom Tom Club at their finest and then couple of directors Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel making their debut with video clips after a marvellous animated short film, the under-appreciated "Marx for Beginners".

Abstract images such as of a talking dog and others are presented along with the story of three singing girls trying to have the time of their lives after leaving jail (it's in the music!).

There isn't much analysis from my part, my take is exclusively devoted to the effort and brilliancy of the animation techniques where one drawing transforms into another in a successive fashion and speed that there's so much going on it's hard to form a wider idea of what the directors Idea were all about. But it is amazing to see and to feel the excitment and power of one of the most brilliant songs of all time. Its energy and funk beat fit the video like a perfect glove. It never fails to amaze me. It's all great! 10/10
