This 35-minute episode of a French TV series on youth culture covers some interesting and informative ground on the mod scene that became all the rage in England in the mid-1960's. We learn that mod is an abbreviation of the word "modern," most of the mods were disgruntled working class kids who rejected traditional middle-class values, and the mods took lots of amphetamines so they could stay awake all night and party hearty until the wee hours of the morning. Moreover, there's not only some great footage of the Who right before they made it big performing live at a East End club, but also neat interviews with Who manager Kit Lambert and Pete Townsend, who describes marriage as two streams that come together. This show doesn't pass judgement on the kids featured herein; instead it just presents them as they are -- two mods are even interviewed -- and lets the audience make up their own minds on what to think about them.
