After the blockbuster of Great father Haneef adeni is back in his directors cap.
Expectation were too much high for this Nivin Haneef Adeni combo, but the poor storyline fails everywhere. We are watching the same revenge story for more than 3 or 4 decade.
Revenging the death of his mother is not a new story.
One major defect comes up with the physique of the protagonist.Fighting with more than 5 people at same time with that fat body felt like crap.
As we all knew the villain should get killed by the hero.We have to wait 2.30hr to see that

Miss this, You don't miss ... a thing

"Mikhael"
Malayalam movie with the title subheading 'Guardian Angel'
Haneef Adeni the director whose first love is stylish, filmy, out of the world presentations ... where audience are left thrilled because of the mass effect. He had done the same, in his previous outings.
Al Pacino's 'Godfather' had been plagiarized enough number of times in Bollywood, Tollywood and even in Mollywood.... Rivalry between two family of goons, their tic-tac killings, unsuccessful police interventions, innocent civilians getting involved ... suddenly a superhero arises from vengeance.... This is the nut shell of the story. The director, Haneef is obsessed with hero saving his daughter and brother, in his previous presentations... here it's the turn of the little sister.
Mesmerising camera work, along with excellent editing... audience get a Hollywood movie effect. Background score keeps the rhythm well throughout this movie.
Nivin Pauly could barely fit into the hero's shoes, Unni Mukundan as the anti-hero was sadly underutilized.
Violence, raw fights and killings laced, throughout the 150 minutes of Hollywood lookalike.
5 on 10 for this 'miss the movie, if You can' presentation.
Hardcore fan of Nivin ? ... then watch.
Disapointed

What a waste of time.

Mikhael is an absolute disaster. There's not a single good thing about this movie. Everything went wrong right from the start. Poor acting, poor direction, poor editing, poor music and much more. Siddique and Unni Mukundan did an okay job (apart from Siddique's character which had no sense and Unni Mukundan's dialogue in the hospital, which was serious but funny). Nivin Pauly didn't do a good job comparing with his previous roles. Manjima Mohan didn't have anything much to do. Haneef Adeni's direction style is so old and boring. The Great Father was much better than Mikhael. Please avoid Mikhael. We should not promote these kind of movies and movies like Mikhael should be terminated from Malayalam film industry.
A flimsily crafted thriller with a non-existent script in the second half! [+34%]

In case there's anything to take away from 'Mikhael' as a movie, all of it pertains to the first half. The minor redeeming factors would include Nivin Pauly getting to be his casual, relaxed self (in the flashback portions as Dr. Michael), a pretty intriguing neurotic angle displayed by Siddique's antagonist character, and the adorable Navani Devanand (who plays Mike's sister Jennifer). With 'Mikhael', Haneef Adeni reinstates that he is little beyond bland scripting, excessive application of slow motion, Biblical references, and mindless violence.
A number of inconsequential characters are portrayed by well-known actors. This list includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, J D Chakravarthy (this man was born for playing such meaningless, expressionless roles), Jayaprakash, Sudev Nair, Ashokan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Kishore, and more. It would be difficult to find a reason beyond a prompt paycheck that really urged any of these actors to want to take up a role in 'Mikhael'. Same goes for the women (except for Navani) - Reba Monica, Manjima, and KPAC Lalitha. No impact whatsoever! The second half, as I mentioned in the headliner, is just a barrage of incoherent fight sequences. None of it makes sense, because it's in a way, trying to undo the first half - a jolly Nivin Pauly is apparently a bad-ass doctor with prior training in martial arts; the two cop characters (played by Suraj and Chakravarthy) are mere watchdogs to Mike's doings; George Peter (Siddique) who we thought was shaping up to be a powerful antagonist, is killed off only to introduce his brawny brother Marco played by Unni Mukundan. Everything, I mean, everything is plain awful.
To say that there was a solid story to be told is an insult in itself. It's just a rehash of Adeni's earlier flicks - Nivin playing a character that Mammootty would have happily taken up (again) if written for an older man. The mass-hero antics are very much there, and Nivin struggles big time to pull it off comfortably. He looks like he's put on a little too much, and it never helps when the antagonist has an obvious advantage in terms of executing the fights better and also boasts an athletic build.
The ridiculousness that's inherent in Adeni films is retained in 'Mikhael' too. For instance, pay heed to any of Unni Mukundan's lines, and of course, how can I forget the glorious shower scene that was supposed to make viewers jittery but ended up making them laugh. For an action movie, the fight choreography (which has been credited to a number of veterans) looks astonishingly mediocre. The location choices for the fisticuffs too aren't exactly innovative either. The 'sanatorium' (the hideout of Jayaprakash's character) looked like it was made to drive people insane than a place where the mentally-ill would be taken to for treatment.
Mikhael is best forgotten from Nivin Pauly's filmography. I mean, viewers can forgive him for wanting to stay a little mainstream and action-oriented after Kayamkulam Kochunni. I'm confident that he'll strike back soon with 'Moothon' and the film with Rajeev Ravi. As for Adeni, he'll continue to bore us with more routine revenge flicks (please prove me wrong, man!). We're done with avenging daughter ('The Great Father'), brother ('Abrahaminte Santhathikal'), and sister ('Mikhael') already. Who's next? Brother-in-law (a.k.a 'Aliyan')? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I happen to hear something along those lines!

Garbage that Rots Real Slowly
gokscasm5 March 2019
Where do I start? Do I start with the absolute lazy acting displayed by Nivin Pauly or a director who just forgot the essence of making something with a good screenplay.
Nivin Pauly can only pull of something like a Premam or other romantic films. Action is not his genre.
Most actors are under utilized and I wonder why most even signed up for this trash.
Unni Mukundan, you deserve better.
Sad sad sad

Warning: Spoilers
The review because I finished the movie, and for Nivin Pauly. The only person who acted for the money they were paid was Siddique. Man this guy such an amazing actor, no matter what he is given he rules it with his confident dialogue rendering, and screen presence.
Unni Mukundan, such a vile vilian in character, I know this dude works really hard, it's hard to see his acting skills.
I wish Sijoy varghese was given the role of the Police ( M. Easa). The guy who did it was too cold to relate.
First complaint, the cheesy music, the rough transitions, sad acting lasted longer. Anyone who could act was killed off, like the director was jealous of them or something, the characters that played, Kishore Kumar, Sijoy, Siddique. I wish their roles were either longer or given to someone else so they lasted longer.
Seriously 3 different (groups) of Vilian(s) all of them want this Middle Schooler. Makes no sense to me but whatever.
And why do girls in movies irrespective of them knowing martial arts or Karate or whatever is slapped. Jennifer learned karate and she gave her best only to be degraded with a slap! Why?! I'm no feminist but come on dude!!
Ok Nivin you got a bad one for your resume hope you make better ones. Not everything is 200% successful 100% of the time. I understand.

Disaster movie i have ever watch in Malayalam movie industry.

OMG...! What a disaster movie.
we know direction is not a simple job, it is very hard and skill needed.
as we know and we experienced it in Haneef's The Great Father. It was far better than this movie.
But in this movie he is using parallel method of story telling as The great father...!! I saw people commenting like " Mikhael is great psycho thriller family entertainment movie" these people doesn't know what is psycho thriller even family entertainment movie.! what a crap..!!!
Actions are such a waste..even some actions of the hero is such a disaster..! martial artist even he has fat body, he can perform very well, but in this movie we can see hero have only fat body, doesn't know about what is martial art, they are like teasing Martial art..! but in the end we can see good actions from anti-hero. I think our hero should learn something from anti-hero..!!!
Mikhael is filled with dumb items. even it is not good for time passing too...!!!!!
Haneef... You have a great future don't spoil it...!!!

Worth watching if you go without expectation...!!!
ajayvasudevan19 January 2019
Firstly, agree the physic of hero brings down the action sequences.
Storyline, is the same we have been watching.
Direction n screenplay, he knows to boost the prime characters to the peak.
Overall its worth watching.. dont expect a bang...
Great plot stretched due to poor editing
sunnysurya8 May 2019
Mikhael was a great plot completely spoiled by pathetic editing.
Great production, superb action and Nivin is the reason I gave it a 7.
Although it has to be noted that Nivin was a poor choice for this role. The others were appropriate and an eye opener.

Garbage movie...
joppanLive3 March 2019
The story is pathetic. The script writer tried his best to add all sort of atrocities, stupidities, violence, negativities of all sorts to this film. I wonder how someone can tolerate such a movie in theaters just for the sake of some mass scenes here and there from Nivin Pauly. I would call this one a 'durantham' in Malayalam industry considering the hype it created before the release.
FAILED IN COURSE
alanmuttamthottile12 February 2019
The movie has a good plot but all failed to maintain it poor dirction and very poor acting from nivin the second half of movie if fully filled with action which keeps up engaging but failed to keep it and the first half of the movie is a little lag, watchable one if you don't go without any expectation from haneef adeni and nivin pauly .
Fight Action Nothing Else

Worst film from Haneef Adani (Director)
sujiparathattil6 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Lack of script, lack of story, bad direction...
Nivin is not apt for the role......
Unni mukundan's character is good, but very bad dialogues ........
Sound mixing is really bad, while watching in tv,we cant hear the dialogues properly becoz of background music......
Over all bad film, comparing to other films of the same director...
A Headache waiting for you !!!

Warning: Spoilers
Not a big fan of Nivin P. I decided to watch this movie anyways. Safe to say I will be staying away from his movies from now on. He has limited expressions and for an action movie he looked out of shape plus it didn't look like a genre he is best suited for. Besides if the hero keeps getting beat up over and over again throughout the movie it gets tiring. So If you are done staring at the ceiling you can watch this movie.
Excellent movie

Warning: Spoilers
These ratings are only for two powerful actors Nivin and Unni and for nothing else, also not forgetting about Siddique being a psycho which was up to the mark. Sorry to say, but wonder why Marco character was here. Felt like he just came to enjoy the breeze around and then ended up donating himself. There was a point where confusion started circling, was kind of lost entirely. Difficult to understand whether it was a plot twist or something else on plate. Also going to Flashback (why Mikhael became coldhearted) with current reality doesn't seem to have much of a gap. Felt like Mikhael character came flying from somewhere and knocked out everyone and returned back to his origin. BGM was superb which was actually boosting up the dead energy and was making sure that something is going to happen. Too many Character involvement. Keep your mind aside and simply enjoy the BGM and Action stuff. Never thought my rating would go so below on this one, was with high hopes. Nevermind, will wait for the next.
One-Line Review: Mikhael (3 Stars)
nairtejas2 March 2019
Only Siddique shines as a psychotic, brutal gangster in this celebration of pumping background score, Haneef Adeni's action crime drama Mikhael, four films compressed into one, which when its sequences make sense, is a pretty stylish affair. TN.
Long story... looks like 3 movies joined together
ajemu31 May 2019
It's a thriller for the first 1 hr, once suspence is over it's a family drama and for the last 1 hr it's a underworld story. Even the hero has 3 different modulation in his character, a soft spoken and timid guys becomes a fighting champion.
The movie is good to watch with actors giving their best in each role, young girl Navani, Markos unni mukundan, JD Chakravarthy, Siddique all were at their best.
A good movie that gets draged by a long long story.
