How do you follow up an amazing season 1? Well, having watched the 1st episode of season 2 I am full of confidence that the writers can pull off a great 2nd season. Joe initially comes across as a shy and innocent guy this time, someone who certainly knows better and wants to do right by everyone. However, we all know that this is not going to happen, but the way this is unfolding in the first episode is deliciously creepy right up until the end, just as uncomfortable as the first season was... I will definitely stay tuned for more!

Didn't like the ending of S1, but it was all worth it for this!

Only watched S2:E1 so far, but I am so excited to see what happens this season. Joe narrating again, stalking again, obsessing again, and fixing his problems as he goes again led for an outstanding season opening. I loved seeing Victoria Pedretti in her new role and I'm excited to see how and if Joe's past catches up to him.
If you're like me and didn't like S1's ending, give this a go, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Disappointing

I loved the first season of this, this however was quite a boring episode. It feels like it's copying a lot from the first season, which was something I was worried about since it was announced. It took a lot of things that I loved from the first season, and changed them just a little. Disappointing but I look forward to seeing more of the season.

No matter what happens in this world but when Joe loves someone, she cannot escape that trap. Believe me till the whole 40minutes I was totally sure that Joe is going to be trapped but then the big truth came. I am so found of this character that I can't even blame him for murders.
But the very truth that can't be neglected is nobody can take Beck's place in this series. She was a very different personality.
Whatever let's see what will come next.
People aren't actually like this in real life

I like the first season, but this was just... Weird?
I have NEVER met people like this and I've been to L.A. People you've JUST met don't suddenly treat you like you've always known each other and like you're best friends. I mean, I get the premise of the show is showing how some people are just too trusting and you never really know someone and what goes on behind closed doors, but these people are literally just TRUSTING this loner that's just moved to their city. Like I said, people aren't actually like this.
Fresh It Is

Warning: Spoilers
A new fresh start for Joe after some ghosts from the past like Candace Stone, Joe moves to Los Angeles with his new name "Will" Bettelheim. Joe still dreams about Beck. Also Joe has flashbacks about his meeting with Candace, Joe left Candace alone after he hitted her. Joe applies for a job at a Café. Joe meets a girl named Love at the Supermarket part they are flirting a little. Joe runs away from Love but she kissed him in his dream. Ellie filmed Joe from the roof without ulterior motives. Joe gives Ellie a new phone the other fell from the roof. Joe starts up his social media channels under the name of Will Bettelheim with photo's of books and other literature things. Joe burned fully trough his white T-shirt. Love is already married with someone else. Joe and Love go out with each other, eating in a few different restaurants. They even eating at the LA skyline. Love cooked for Joe at the Café, Joe loves here food. Love says that she is married but her man died. Joe planned everything with Love and hold the real Will Bettelheim hostage in his garage box. Very good start of the second season You, Penn Badgley is a really nice actor for this series.

A new beginning.

Warning: Spoilers
A new girl just like that uh. It's a bit all over the place and moving at a rapid rate. It's also a bit hard to tell what's currently happening and what's a fantasy or a memory. I don't really know what to make of it, I like the new setting, but this Love character hasn't captivated me at this moment.
Was the fresh start at all fresh?

You Season 2 Episode 1
Review : This episode is called "A Fresh Start". My question is is this episode so fresh at all? Because no such element is shown in this matter, some new cartoons have been made and all the old characters have disappeared somewhere. Suddenly Candice returned and it is not known why. Joe Golbark suddenly disappeared from New York but no one tried to find him. I find a lot of things a little weird. But still I will say that there is something interesting, a little mysterious and a little thrilling in this episode, somehow I am not willing to say that this episode is boring. The rest of the good and bad aspects of this episode I have discussed below.
Acting : In this episode, we will witness the performance of a bunch of new actors and actresses. All the actors and actresses have performed well enough and beautifully enough.
Direction : The director has worked hard enough for the new episode to make him better. Specifically in the case of this episode I think the director could have done a little better.
Story and Dialogue : The storytellers should have written this episode a little more interesting, a little more mystical and a little more thrilling. But I can say that this episode has been made to give a new look to the story. I have to admit that there are a lot of things in this episode that are very irrational but still nice to watch. The only question that comes to mind is that the old things will not be repeated. But if the old thing is repeated again but the matter will be very boring. Talking about the dialogue of this episode, it must be said that neither very good dialogue was used nor very bad dialogue was used. General dialogue has been used which is neither overly serious nor overly open. The use of some romantic dialogue has also been observed in this episode to highlight the romantic feeling behind it.
Soundtrack and Background score : Unlike the previous season, no soundtrack was used in the first episode of this season. But like the previous day, this season and the use of very high quality background has been observed.
Cinematography and Editing : Both the cinematography and the editing are good enough.
Other Departments : Vfx, lighting, location, sound designing home everything else is good enough. Rather it can be said to be worthy of praise.
Overall Episode : Judging by all the bad and good aspects, applying my own intellect considerations, I gave this episode eight out of ten stars.
Thanks so much for reading my review.

The starter of S2 is a dud
deniseactress13 April 2020
Ok S1 was attention grabbing and engaging characters to keep you going till the final episode but Joe combined with NYC setting and the kid next door with junkie mom cannot be replaced with the hippy dippy LA. It's like a show trying to repeat itself fail.
We can make a better story
aricana10 September 2021
I really have a hard time with filmmakers who have the idea that they can write a better story than the author of the book, they wanted to adapt to the movies.
I get it, there has to be certain changes for several reasons as dramatic effect, etc. But this is not it. This is changing the whole premise of the story. It's changing the personality and life of the characters. This seems like just more of the same as first season, which is exactly what the book isn't.
I didn't agree with the all the changes in the first season, but was overall a good adaptation. This first episode of the second season is just an assault. I cannot imagine people who have read the book liking this season...and I'm obviously not able to make an completely objective assessment without comparing to the book. But should we? After all it is supposed to be an adaptation.
