1. Barry gets a bullet
2. Gene goes to his son
3. Barry doesn't kill Esther
A bit of a slower episode but still great. Barry tries his best to cut his ties with crime as he reluctantly accepts the bullet from Hank. He ultimately doesn't pull through, which almost cost him his life. Hank, behind kind masks, is just as manipulative as everybody else. He doesn't seem that "evil" but he's got issues too. In fact, Hank thinks that being evil is a great thing in their line of work so that creates a wall between him and Barry, who is trying to redeem himself.
We also spend time digging into Gene and his relationship with his son, which is badly damaged. Leo doesn't play too much role down the road but I think the idea is to show how Gene failed as a father figure and is making up to it in different ways such as his relationship with Barry. I love Henry Wrinkler's Cousineau and I am glad they are giving him more substance.
We also learn about Sally's violent past marriage and it immediately worries the audience in that Barry is also a violent person on the inside. Fuches is caught and Loach is using him to lure in Barry. Looking at this, Fuches is a pretty manipulative and selfish person so their relationship is truly interesting. Barry doesn't give in thankfully and continues his battle against crime.
Howard Hamlin as a cameo was a great surprise and hilarious.
