Exceptionally striking, well acted episode, deserving of the high ratings! Bill Hader has proven himself to be a top notch actor & the scenes with Anthony Carrigan are wonderful!

This episode is a perfect example of why this show is a masterpiece. Perfect acting along side with comedy, tension, action and drama. What a second season!

Basically flawless at this point

I've written reviews for every episode of season 2 so I could do the "This is a masterpiece, best show on television" stuff but I've said those things many times before. The thing that makes this episode feel specifically special is the performances of the whole supporting cast. Anthony Carrigan (NoHo Hank) Sarah Goldberg (Sally) stood out to me this episode. I can't wait to see the finale

Perfecting juxtaposition of comedy and drama, again
getsadzeg13 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It seems that this show is constantly perfecting the juxtaposition of comedy and drama elements. First half of the episode is low-key hilarious, commenting on modern entertainment industry and them trying to bring social relevance into their content. I also liked what Sally's character brought to the table in this episode, such as complete honesty and aspiration. Her speech(and Barry's response, obviously) was also funny but thought-provoking. I like how she isn't faking in anything, personal relationships and her work alike.

Second half is also very engaging, starting from the scenes with NoHo Hank(Anthony Carrigan) and finishing with the new subplot involving Fuches/Gene/Barry. It finished with an amazing cliffhanger, so we'll see how it goes!

A phenomenal episode.

Warning: Spoilers
This had "To'hajiilee" from Breaking Bad written all over it. From Barry's desperate move to rescue Gene like when Walter White was going to the desert for the money in the respective episode to not knowing if Fuches really killed Cousineau like not knowing if Hank and Gomez were killed at the end of the episode, this really was quite the episode. The fact that this was mostly a Sally centric episode was enough for me. I love her character, and I loved her reasons for abandoning the show she was gonna get the part for. Her breakdown in front of Barry after he was rehearsing was Emmy-worthy, and the gunmen getting liberated from the bus was great as well, if at times hilarious because of Hank.

Again, the best actor in this show is...

Sarah Goldberg. The range, the vulnerability... Absolutely incredible.

Everyone else is great, but she is amazing.

Out of this world acting again

Great comedy as usual but a fair bit of tension too. The last 5 minutes are full of tension - what a cliffhanger! Really not sure which way this is going - hope its not another death...

That ending!!

This show just keeps getting better and better! At this point season 2 has been great with an intense exciting build-up towards the finale!

This episode both had some great drama and intense moments! Sarah Goldberg was incredible as Sally and she really captures the realism of her character! I just really enjoyed her scenes and the themes portrayed in them!

At this point NoHo Hank is about to become on of my favorite characters as he gets my favorite scene with him up Till this point! The scene with him opening up really stands as an important moment of development!

The last part of the episode was really tense and the soundtrack here was great! I can not wait for the inevatable confrontation in the final!

Holy Monologue!
steveheroan9 July 2023
Sarah Goldberg's one-take monologue is one of the best acting performances I've seen in a while. It has been mentioned in these reviews already but it bears repeating, and was worthy of my first-ever IMDB review. That girl is ridiculously good, and she makes the character of Sally somehow sympathetic despite her enormous character flaws. I have been binging the show all night and Ms. Goldberg's stellar acting has been the highlight of the show for me. Bill Hader proves himself to be a legit actor as well, and Stephen Root and Henry Winkler are golden. Some of the humor is out of pace with the general tone of the show IMO, but that's probably part of what has kept me engaged. It's rare for me to laugh so hard and simultaneously cringe at what I'm laughing about.

Episode 207

Warning: Spoilers
Another episode where if they just dialed back how much NoHo Hank we got it could have worked. I just don't get the appeal of the character at all.

Jay Roach
safenoe28 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Jay Roach plays himself in this episode which for me hit the spot in the entertainment industry's casting choice, leading to Sally's jealousy towards Barry when he's called for an audition with the one and only Jay Roach.

Fuches really gets Barry in hot water and we finally get a scene where he shares screen time with Cousineau.

What a Cliffhanger! [8.8/10]
panagiotis19938 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Barry Season 2 Episode 7 ''The Audition'' (S2. E7): Episode 6 was good and I gave it a rating of 8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Its nice to see that Sally is about to play a huge role, I hope things wont go the wrong way. Are the Chechens about to die? What's going on with Cristobal. The Chechens escaped! Yes! Yes yes, exactly what I wanted to happen. Wow Barry left the audition? That sucks, I thought he would do something good with his acting career. Fuches wants to frame Gene? That's so evil man, Gene doesn't deserve this. Wow what an insane cliffhanger! My rating is 8.8/10.
