Sybil: Seventeen and a half shades of yuck
Platypuschow28 April 2023
Plot

None on IMDB.

Cast

Unfamiliar.

Verdict

Sybil is brief, perverse and uncomfortable viewing and by the end of the 12 minutes I was unnerved and a bit frustrated that I had even watched it.

It tells the story of lady mortician who develops an unhealthy interest in a recently acquired body. During the course of the shorts runtime she falls in love, falls out with it, mutilates it out of revenge and then, well no spoilers here but it gets worse.

Scary? No.

Funny? Absolutely not.

Interesting? In the same way that a Serbian Film (2010) was.

Namely it's an ugly cluster splurge that should never have been created.

Breakdown
  • Very uncomfortable stuff
  • No seriously, it's horrid

Rants

Okay fine this isn't on the same level as a Serbian Film but the comparison stands. But what kind of degenerate gets a kick out of a film like that anyway? I'm not easily shocked, far from prudish but the sight of a man having intercourse with a new-born was certainly my line. Those who that appeals to I think should have their internet history checked and maybe banned from being within a mile from a school.

Her acting is just magnificent. Served by a splendid story, her work reflects, in precise manner, the loneliness, isolation, fears and need of love of an old lady , part of her job. The humor and the twist are basic pillars for a different sort of horror, in which to feel the lead character remains the most significant detail. So, a mortician and her work material. And something changed.
