Good but not as good as the first 4
lukebernstein35 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was good but not as good as the first 4. Red has a good story throughout the episode. Similar to the pawnbrokers. Most of his scenes are in a courtroom in this episode. James Spader is at his best in these types of scenes. He is really good at talking and giving speeches. But things don't go to well for him in this episode. The blacklister story line was okay but I've always liked the ones when red is involved and he can't be. As good as spader is in a courtroom they have to get Red out of courtrooms and prison cells soon. The ending of the episode was also very good though. 9 out of 10 for lack of connection of the two stories.

Red vs Liz
LordofArt3 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Oh Liz, sorry for you. Now that Red has said the anonymous tip's fate is sealed, what do you hope to gain? What exactly? You forget that, in the past, you've also committed crimes, even murders which Red knows about but you're unaware of? Revenge has eaten this once-beautiful soul of Liz, and I doubt if any part of her can be salvaged. If Red is tried for all his alleged crimes, won't your worms crawl up the can? I honestly doubt. Red is a fighter and Dembe is loyal as fate is proving to be a friend. The Judge is a lovely woman. I do like her. Samar, oh Samar, get the help you need ASAP. Red will rise!

Hilarious

Works for both the blacklister story and the scenes with Red. I love how Spader portrays Reddington in the courtroom, his interaction with the policeman, with the judge - its pure gold. His character excels in eloquence and it shines in this context.

The story about Alter Ego had a decent tie in with Reddingtons storyline, and the premise of it is just funny to me - a company that provides dates for hire, and even more. It's even more hilarious that Liz advises Ressler to make use of this service - poor guy.

It kinda took the sting out of the 'criminal of the week' theme where they generally provide fearsome foes that need to be dealt with, but it was a very entertaining episode.

Gotta give her credit...

The character Liz that is, for being a good actress. Managing to produce those crocodile tears whilst visiting Red, when she's responsible for his being up to his chin in the poo.

As ever, Spader's scenes were great, and kudos to the woman playing the judge too.

Navabi's story arc is a good one, how awful for a woman of her intellect to struggle with a brain injury.

Very Good Setup
Hitchcoc29 November 2022
So what happens to Liz? In review after review, we see her maligned for her ingenuous actions. Say it again. He never harmed her. He saved her. And please forget about Tom. He was a snake! In this one, Red continues in confinement and must go to court without a chance to hear the tape that was used to get him arrested. The fact is he has never been convicted of a crime (which interestingly is odd considering he is the number one wanted man in America). So other than possession of an unregistered firearm, what is he charged with. Gross speculation. Is Liz the only witness that can hurt him? A secondary plot which ultimately relates to Red is an agency that sets up a down and outer who ended up with a mess of money. This is pretty well done.

Red needs Denny Crane
cpotato10102 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
While Red tries to get evidence in his trial excluded, Liz and the rest of the Task Force investigate the killing of one of Red's associates that leads to a group of very interesting people.

The problem with dividing the episode into two different tracks is that it diminishes both of the stories.

I am not entirely sure what the arc of having Red on trial is all about, but the episodes that focused on Task Force going after one of the "blacklisters" have been better.

The biggest plus of this episode is where the Task Force starts out looking for one person and finds something else entirely, something that was not on the "list" but was perhaps just as dangerous.
