Now, as I sat down here in 2023 to watch the 2018 Vietnamese movie "Mùa Viêt Tình Ca" (aka "Season for Love Songs"), I have to admit that I knew not what I was in for. I had never heard about the movie, and of course with my love for the Asian cinema, then I opted to watch the movie.
Writers Tran Khanh Hoang and Vu Duc Thang just failed to capture my interest with the script and storyline for this movie. But it was mostly because it was mostly a storyline that was brought to the screen by singing, dancing and music that killed it off for me. I am not overly keen on such types of entertainment.
Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie. But then again, given my limited exposure to the Vietnamese cinema, then it was no surprise.
I failed to sit through the entire movie, because the constant singing was just too unbearable to suffer through. And I have zero intentions of returning to attempt finishing watching this movie from director Vu Duc Thang.
